Keith Weaver updated the Committee on the end of the year and what is coming up for 2014. He noted that Anthony Gnas and Gary Phillips officially retired from the active fire service. He said they are going to help with the EOP. The Fire Company recognized them and gave them plaques. He hoping the Borough could recognize them in January for their many years of service.

Mr. Weaver said that he has been in contact with two companies for Workmen’s’ compensation and vehicle insurance. He said both are willing to give quotes for May. In order to get cheaper rates we will need to split Municipal and Fire.

He also informed Council that he applied for two grants one will be for 30 sets of rain gear and fire police gear. That will be for $15,200.00. The other one is through FEMA for $41,000 which is for a cascade system.

Keith Weaver noted that the carnival dates were set and will be the first full week in May.

He said that he spoke with a Harley Davison Representative about Bike Night, and they are interested in being a sponsor. He said that he would like to get together with Chief Rachman and change the road closures from last year.

Mr. Weaver asked if they gave approval to Mr. Hertzog to do oil changes, which will save the Borough about $2,000 in maintenance. President Stevens said that we haven’t discussed it yet.

He also said that we have to inform the Communication Center that we removed the hydrant from Second and Main Street.

Keith Weaver said he has been in contact with First Niagara about the Fire Police account that we can deposit into but can’t withdraw from. He said we can change the signers by resolution. President Stevens said there are a few legal issues with this account that we can’t discuss in public.
