MIFUR 2006

Boom of Buyers, optimism among the exhibitors at the end of the 2006 exhibition

Numbers that are strongly increasing, a positive “turnover” at the end of the XI edition of Mifur, the International Fur and Leather Exhibition - in Fiera Milano City that started on 15th March.

The buying firms at their very first entrance in the exhibition (without considering the re-entries during the following days) have shown a 6% increase compared with the year 2005 and divided in such way:

The buying companies coming from Russia are strongly growing with a 27% increase and in general those coming from Ukraine, Byelorussia, Kazakistan and Uzbeksitan. Also the Americans are increasing with a nice 16%.

The buyers moving inside the Exhibition and evaluated duing the global 5 days have been 18.517, with a +12,87 % compared with last year.

The buyers reaching Mifur bought a considerable quantity of goods from the Exhibitors who welcomed the positive general trend and the increasing data of the sector relying on the strength of the milanese fair exhibition and on the unquestionable quality of the product.

Mifur 2006 has confirmed thanks to these numbers, the expectations suggested by the slogan of this edition: presented by the advertising campaign: MIFUR…WITH ENERGY!

The positive data arrived with energy and they have been well introduced inside the many collateral events developed according to the directives of a MIFUR…with energy beyond the Exhibition, that have witnessed the continuous evolution of the product…beyond fashion.

In partnership with Kopenhagen Fur, Mifur has inaugurated at La Triennale di Milano“TRA-VESTIMENTI from myth to tale to fashion a tribute to Hans Christian Andersen”, a container exhibition between myth and tale that, in an unusual and magic tribute to the master of dreams Hans Christian Andersen, has interpreted the imagination and the dream of fashion.

Kept in 15 containers Andersen’s fairy tales have been told starting from the craetions of the designers who have represented them by choosing a detail as symbol of the dream held inside each of them, in order to turn it into a garment to be worn, and carrying the fairy tale and the dream.

The fashion show “THE SNOW QUEEN ”- Free to be Unusual put on the catwalk: Annabella, Artico, Avanti Furs, Cavaggioni, Coveri, Ciolini 1976, Henry Fischer – Monticello Milano, Jun, Lacompel di Andrea Landi, Mala Matì by Centro Bel Furs, Mazzi Overwear, Rindi, Swakara, Thes Tziveli, Tsoukas Bros e Vinicio Pajaro.

The designers who interpreted Andersen’s fairy tales in Tra-Vestimenti, defiled their collections according to 9 exits, but above all their Snow Queen, fil rouge of the fashion show and of the evening.

The 2006REMIX competition on 17th March, at La Triennale di Milano has awarded the best young fur designer, in an evening made of music, image and imagination. For the third year Mifur, the International Fur Exhibition, has become the platform of the young event Remix, closing evening and peak of the competition for young designers promoted by IFTF – International Fur Trade Federation.

37 creations, three finalists, one winner on the background of the research Imaginary Remix, by the sociologist Francesco Morace.

The Russian girl Alexandra Shadrina won thanks to a cream color nutria coat. Silver medal for the very Italian Alessandro Garofano and his tweed and mink trench; the bronze medal to Norway for the fox little jacket created by Johanna Angell-Petersen.

For the final toast of the 2006 edition of the Exhibition, under the aegis of AIP – The Italian Fur Association and SAGA FURS, MIFUR chose FUR ON THE ROCKS, a party between ice and fur, at the Ice Bar in Milan. Best wishes for the next ‘06/’07 Fall/Winter season, a Fur on the Rocks projected into next Winter…as protagonist.
