Your project will be worth 50 points and is designed for you to show off your knowledge and comprehension of the book. Your project will be presented to the class.

1.  After reading a book of history or historical fiction, create an illustrated timeline showing events from the story. Include a map of the story location(s). Include at least 10 illustrations with brief descriptions of the chosen pictures.

2.  Design an entirely new book jacket. The book jacket should have illustrated front and back covers. Write a brief summary and teaser on the inside front flap. Write a brief author biography and list of awards on the back inside flap.

3.  Choose birthday or holiday gifts for three characters in your book. Explain in written detail why you would choose these gifts for these characters. Your paper should be at least three paragraphs long and be approximately one double spaced-typed page.

4.  Choose five “artifacts” from the book that best demonstrate the happenings and meaning of the story. Explain in writing why you chose each one (about a paragraph for each artifact). Illustrate or make at least three of the artifacts that you can share with the class.

5.  Create at least three diary entries from the viewpoint of a minor character in your book. Each entry should reflect different events from the story. Make your diary look like a REAL diary! Feel free to be creative with the presentation.

6.  Write a poem/rap/song about the story. It can be a summary of the story, your reaction to the story, or both. Make sure it is at least one double-spaced page long.

7.  Make a test for the book you read. Your test should include ten true-false, ten multiple choice, and five short answer essay questions. Don’t forget to provide an answer key for your true-false and multiple choice questions! Your oral presentation will be in the form of a book chat.

8.  Create a series of ten drawings/cartoons in ten squares that show a significant event(s) in the book’s plot. Under each cartoon, write a two sentence explanation of the square. Think comic strip.

9.  Think of all the photographs and mementos you would put in a scrap book if you had one. Create a scrapbook for a character in your book. Be creative! Your scrapbook should have at least eight pages. Your presentation will include oral explanations of each page.

10.  Write a character alphabet for the main character in your book. You will create sentences based on the alphabet scheme that demonstrate your knowledge of the character. If after reading Four Perfect Pebbles¸ you decided to write Marion’s alphabet, it could start like this:

A is for the ABUSE Marion took at the hands of the Nazis.

B is for BERGEN-BELSEN, where Marion and her family…

11.  Don’t like any of these ideas? Come up with your own idea and get it approved by your teacher. Good luck!
