However, because the platform is sometimes very unstable and has given me a lot of trouble, I’ve decided to use also this “alternative layout”.

INTRODUCTION

In this WEBQUEST you are going to analyse your nutrition habits -the amount of calories you need to maintain your present weight, what you eat and in which percentage and how this correlates to the ideal teen food pyramid.

After this analysis you are also going to reach some conclusions.

This is an activity for pair work. Even though the data are individual, the data processing and the analysis are going to be done in pairs.

TASKS

The main tasks in this Webquest will be the following:

  1. Calculate your height and weight in the Anglosaxon metric system.
  2. Calculate the number of calories you need to maintain your present weight.
  3. Create a grid with three columns and write down all the different foods you eat in three consecutive days and their weight.
  4. Calculate the total number of calories of those foods.
  5. Calculate the percentage of carbohydrates, proteins and fats of those foods.
  6. Compare what you have eaten with the teen food pyramid and the recommended distribution of nutrients and reach your own conclusions.

PROCESS

The process for this Webquest will be as follows:

  1. Find a working partner.
  2. Do all the tasksin the previous section. For that you can check these websites:

  1. Write down all the data.
  2. When you have done that, show in a pie chart graphicthe percentage of carbohydrates, proteins and fats you have eaten those three days.
  3. Then, write a report analysing your nutrition habits and comparing them to the ideal percentage and distributionwe saw in the introduction to the unit.
  4. And finally, put all this together and send an e-mail to your teacher with all the information.
