GENERAL DETAILS

Induction

ALL students must attend induction on the first Monday when they arrive of every placement. The induction is compulsory and will cover important Health and Safety topics. A list of student names will have been presented to the Training and Development department prior to your arrival. The induction will take place in the Education Centre commencing 08.30am and finish approx 12.30. Following this session students should call in to the Postgraduate office to register their attendance and collect an information pack before making their way to the Security Lodge for the issue of their I.D. card.

Hepatitis B Certificate

Occupational Health Department may require proof of Hep B immunisation on day of arrival. You must obtain this yourself from the Occupational Health Department at Hope Hospital as they will not allow this information to be released to the Undergraduate Department.

Accommodation

The total deposit for your accommodation will be £30.00, refunded when keys and swipe card are returned. Students can collect their room keys directly from Sylvia Thomasson, Accommodation Officer, in Musgrave House on the Monday at 13.00 hours or from the Porter's Lodge at 15.30 hours. Rooms must be vacated by 09.00 hours on the final Friday of your stay so that this will enable the rooms to be cleaned in preparation for the new students

Car Parking

Car parking facilities are available near the residence. A swipe card is required to obtain access to the car park and this should be obtained from the Operational Services Directorate (Patient Services Office). There is a £10.00 deposit for this card which will be refunded when the swipe card is returned.

Post

All post addressed to medical students will be delivered to Jennifer Broadhead, Education Centre and can be collected from there.

Induction

All students must attend the compulsory induction morning on the first Monday of the attachment. This session will commence at 08.30 hours in The Education Centre at The Royal Bolton Hospital. If you fail to attend, then the session will not be rearranged and you will not be able to carry out any clinical duties!

Accommodation

Those students on Module One of Year should be able to move into their accommodation over the weekend prior to commencing the Module. Thereafter, change over day for accommodation will always be the last day of the placement. You must vacate your accommodation by 10.00 hours to enable the rooms to be cleaned ready for the next students to move in after 15.00 hours on the same day. Please make sure you return all room keys / swipe cards before you leave and leave the accommodation as you found it.

A teaching session is also arranged for all Year 5 students each Monday in Dr Hassan’s Office, Radiology, F Block, commencing 2.00pm lasting 1½ hr to discuss interesting cases.
