Boat safety check before starting engine:
- Fire extinguisher – automatic, and fully charged for inboard, fully charged manual for outboard. (needle in green)
- Drivers Seat Secure
- Ski Pole/ Towing Eye, Secure and fixing adequate.
- Horn
- Mirror
- Red flag
- Interlock working – cannot be pushed or knocked into gear
- Steering when stationary – not stiff or notchy. Visual inspection for loose couplings, excessive play, worn joints, frayed cables, missing circlips.
- Belts – visual check for frays, rusty pullies, adequate tension
- Battery – secure in housing, cannot be tipped, no risk of moving objects landing on terminalsoem battery cover fitted.
- Battery connections tight, live and earth at battery, starter, and block.
- Fuel – Shut off valve relays function, visual check of condition of rubber hoses and metal pipes
- Bilge – No oil in bilge, hull clean, bilge pump working.
- Floor – Visual check, no obvious rot, flex,
- Engine will not start in gear
- Purge Blower Working
- No Loose Items or fittings in Boat
- Boat Numbers both sides of boat (Minimum 75mm high)
- “Kill Switch” & Cord Operational
- No indication of Gas Leaks
Boat Safety engine running
- Water leaks - None from engine while running, hoses, joints, impeller housing, and manifolds.
- Tick over – smooth, does not require any throttle to tick over
- Slow forward / reverse – does not stall when gear is engaged, does not require throttle, tick over speed in gear is not excessive
- Vibration – No excessive vibration under tick over, acceleration or speed.
- Steering at speed – not excessively heavy
- Does Not Stall when Gear is engaged or whilst boat is at mooring speed
- Throttle – operation smooth not stiff.
- The above boat meets minimum standards required by CWSC at time of scrutinizing, the ongoing safety condition of the boat and Launch Vehicle is the responsibility of the owner.
Boat insurance covers a minimum of 4 x skiers or 4 people on inflatable’s or 6 people on banana:
This document does not form a confirmation as to the seaworthiness of the craft but is only confirmation that the craft is meeting with the Club’s minimum safety requirements.Also it is the Club’s recommendation that the vessel’s engine is serviced at least annually by a competent engineer.
