Core-CT Project
Application:HRMS
Module:Benefits
Business Process:Administer Benefits Billing
Requirement Number:BN252
Requirement Title:Ability to track check information on Payment Entry Page
Module Leads: Nancy McMahon, John Woodyard
- Requirement Description
Describe the requirement (gap). Include a description of the delivered PeopleSoft functionality.
Payments made to the State of Connecticut for benefits bills are entered on the Payment Entry page. The data entered on this page includes: emplid, posting date, form of payment (check, cash, interface), and payment amount.
It would be helpful to have the check # and bank name fields on this page.
- Business Need
Provide a justification for the requirement. Include information about frequency, volume, number of users impacted, etc.
Storing the check # associated with each payment would be helpful when checks are returned for insufficient funds (especially if the check was issued by a person other than the employee billed, such as a friend or family member). This would save time for the Agency Benefits Specialist in tracking to which payment that check had been applied.

- Explanation for Recommendation
Provide reasons for recommendation. Please do not re-state the description of the solution itself.
This modification would help the Agency Benefits Specialists track which check was applied to each payment. This could be especially important if the check was issued by someone other than the employee (family member, friend, etc.) and/or the check was returned for insufficient funds.
- Organizational Impact of Recommendation
Describe the changes to the organization that result from the recommended solution. Include a description of any role, process, statute, or bargaining unit agreement affected.
The recommended solution would make it easier for the Agency Benefits Specialist to track benefits billing payments.
- Process Solutions
Describe the possible Process Solutions. Include a description of impacts and benefits of each solution.
Option 1.
Do not track the check# and bank name for benefits billing payments. The Agency Benefits Specialist would have to use the amount and date to track payments. This option could be difficult in larger Agencies where multiple checks would be posted on the same date.
- Application Modifications
Describe the possible Application Modifications. Include a description of impacts and benefits of each solution.
Option 1.
Modification Type : On-line
Complexity: Easy

Create 1 new field to store the check # on the record BEN_BI_PAYMENT. This field would be populated on the page BILL_PAYMENT.
