Core Registration Information and Procedures

Late Registration

Information

Before registering your student for Core classes at the Bluegrass United Academic Center, please read through all the information found on our website, and carefully consider which classes will best suit your student’s needs. Questions pertaining to individual courses should be directed to the instructor via their email address. General questions may be directed to TheCore Program at . Instructors will be available to answer your questions throughout the summer, however, administrative volunteers will be unavailable until July 15.

Late Registration for the 2018-2019academic year will take place on Friday,July 27, at Broadway Baptist Church, on the corner of Pasadena and Harrodsburg Roads. Returning families may register at 9:00 AM and new families may register at 10:00 AM. The following classes are closed: English 1, English 3/4, Physical Science, and Western Civilization.

Six specific forms are required to register for core classes. Download them from the website, fill them out completely, and bring them toLate Registration, along with the $100nonrefundable late registration feein the form of a check made out to Core. Please write separate checks for each student, including the student’s name on the memo line.

Parents/legal guardians of new students must be present at registration. Parents/legal guardians of returning students may send registration forms and deposits with a proxy of your choosing if you are unable to be present.

Assessments are required for students desiring to enter math and English courses at BUAC Core. Students who have not previously taken a math or English course must attend assessments on Monday, July 23. Assessments are required for all math courses. Reading Workshop and Writing Workshop do not require assessments, but English 1, English 2, and English 3/4 do. Further details about assessments are on the website, including the necessary assessment documents.

Tuition fees mentioned in the course descriptions will also be collected at Late Registration and are nonrefundable. For a list of core tuition fees, go to the Registration Information page of the website and download theCore Tuition Fee Sheet.

The official Core Text and Supply List will be available on the BUAC Core website by the end of June. The costs associated with these materials are not included in the Registration Fee or Tuition Fees. Copy and supply fees, along with payment for the spring semester, will be collected by instructors on the first day of class.

Parents of students who are new to homeschooling or returning to homeschooling from a traditional school, will be asked to meet briefly with a representative of the Core Leadership Team. Please allow for some extra time when registering.

Procedures

  1. Read the information on the website and choose classes.
  1. If you are new to BUAC math or English classes, plan to attend assessments at Broadway Baptist on Monday, July 23 at 1:00 PM. Download and complete theEnglish and/or math assessment form. Notification regarding placement is via email. English 1 and English 3/4 are closed.

This is the last opportunity for these assessments to be completed and they must be

completed before a student may register.

  1. For registration, download and complete these 6 forms from the Registration page:
  • Late Registration Form
  • Class Selection Form
  • Student Contract
  • Parent Contract
  • Medical Information and Liability Release Form
  • BU Contract of Understanding
  1. Write a separate check for each student you are registering, payable to Core, in the amount of$100.00. This is a nonrefundable registration fee. Write one student’s name on the memo line of each check. We are unable to accept checks with combined payments for siblings.

Please do not staple your checks and forms together. They will be collected by different people at Registration.

  1. Prepare separate Core Tuition checks made payable to each instructor and marked with your student’s name. (For a list of core tuition fees, go to the Registration Information page of the website and download the Core Tuition Fee Sheet.) All tuition payments are nonrefundable.
  2. If an assessment is not needed, come prepared to register with your completed forms, Late Registration Fee, and tuition payments on July 27.
  1. Purchase texts and supplies over the summer. The official Core Text and Supply List will be available on the website by the end of June. Remember, the cost of these materials is not included in the Registration Fee or the course tuition.
  1. If you decide to add a class following Registration on April 27, you must come to Late Registration to do so; no changes will be made by email or phone. Students who previously registered in April will not be charged a late registration fee.
