Valerie Luchauer began the meeting by reviewing what was discussed from the last meeting. She let the committee know that Pam Bright was going to be speaking at the District 8 Planning Council Meeting in September on preparing press releases. Someone might try to get Kim Wilkerson also. Kim is in Districts 7 and 10. She is also filling in right now in the position of PIO that John Sodrel had.

The November District Planning Council meeting will be on the 800 MHz system. It will be training on it and everyone will have a radio. Director Dietz is also supposed to be there in November.

The December District Planning Council meeting will be an 800 MHz drill. It will be in county, county to county and then it will be the whole district.

Jeff Barlow suggested that for the January district meeting everyone could go over the Tabletop exercise and discuss the events to come with the full scale exercise.

It was also mentioned that in March of 2007 there will be a special needs speaker.

Valerie also told the committee that she would like to appoint a Secretary to take minutes and type them up and she asked Jessica Renn if she would do that. Ms. Renn accepted.

The committee reviewed some of the tasks from the previous meeting. Valerie went around the group and asked who had sent their credentials to the Education and Training Officer who is Jessica Renn. Ken Long suggested giving a database that he has in his office to Jessica so she can put all that information into to make it easier. Valerie told the committee members that have not submitted their credentials to Jessica to do so.

The committee discussed the district exercise that be conducted by MindGent. The tabletop exercise will on November 9, 2006. It is still being decided if it will be at the Convention Center in MonroeCounty or a hotel in BrownCounty. The Full Scale is scheduled for February 9 unless snow or ice or if the IU basketball being a home game would get in the way of the exercise. The full scale will be in three counties. It will be at the College Mall in MonroeCounty, The Little Nashville Opry in BrownCounty and on an interstate area in BartholomewCounty. The main focus will be on BrownCounty.

Valerie asked Shane Modglin if he would check to see if the Opry has Friday night concerts in the month of February.

The committee also went over the goals for the exercise and Valerie told them that the full scale is going to be a 3-4 day event for BrownCounty so that they would have to open their EOC.

The committee also discussed that the state wants a team put together that is a division of DEPART that would deploy to other counties if need be. Kathy Dayhoff-Dwyer stated that they want each district to have a task force for additional man power in the event of an emergency for other counties. The members of DEPART voiced their comments regarding this. It was suggested to get 2 or 3 people from the medical side of it. The committee would like Jeff, John, Dennis and Mary Ellen to get together to get members together for this division of DEPART. They would need to put something together and see who would be willing to go if deployed. Valerie recommended them to talk to Mike Bigler from the State Fire Marshal’s Office. There will be a DMAT Trailer when deployed. There just needs to be volunteers to go and help.

After Jeff, John, Dennis and Mary Ellen meet they need to report back to DEPART about their findings. Jeff Barlow will be the facilitator and John Hooker will be the assistant.
