21/07/15 - Goodbye to all of our Reception children. We have really enjoyed teaching you. May we wish you the very best of luck in Year 1.

13/07/15- YR children invited the pre-school children to a Teddy Bear’s Picnic.

We listened to Teddy Bear stories.

We made Teddy Bear masks.

We danced at the Teddy Bear Disco.

We ate Teddy Bear food.

We went on a walk to Bidbury Mead where wespotted signs of Spring.

23.01.15

This week the children have been thinking about Disney’s ‘Frozen’.

We wrote a description of our favourite ‘Frozen’ character.

We build castles with the 3D ice cubes.

We had a visit from Princess Elsa.

We are sure you will agree that the Foundation Stage Nativity was a great success. We were all so proud of the children. Merry Christmas everyone!

02.12.14

This term the children have had several visitors.

They were very excited to hold and stroke a variety of creatures including a snake, cockroach, rat and a snail. The teachers were not so keen!

We had a bugle player play the last post for us near Remembrance day and Ellen, Thomas and Toby’s dad played the euphonium for us.

During Children In Need Pudsey Bear and Olaf came to visit us in the classrooms.

We were very lucky to have a professional pantomime company perform Peter Pan for us.

The new children have settled in very well to their new classes.

They have been learning to listen, work together and share.

The children have had great fun exploring and investigating our new environments.

We have started to learn our phonic sounds and are really enjoying practising reading and writing them.

The children have been learning about the Sacrament of Baptism.

"We pretended we were at a Baptism.” said Sophie.

“I was the Priest” said Declan.

“We poured holy water onto the baby’s head to welcome her into God’s loving family.” Ashlee said proudly.

“We learnt a song called, Jesus love is very wonderful!” said Thomas.

The children went to visit Longdown Activity Farm.

“The goats were very hungry!” said Thomas.

“I held the chick really carefully!” said Katrina.

“We had so much fun in the play area. I loved the big slide!” said Luca.

23.04.14

The children wanted to learn about Mexico.

They had their faces fainted. “I had a moustache!” said Alex.

The children tried some Mexican food. “These dips are delicious!” said Declan.

They made ponchos and wore sombreros. “I have a very big hat!” said Lizzie.

The children joined the whole school in the ‘Around the World’ parade.

02.04.14 - In preparation for Easter, the Reception and Pre-School children came together to remember the events in last few days of Jesus’ life.

“We ate bread and drank wine and remembered Jesus. It was orange juice really!” said Stanley.

“We said the Lord’s Prayer whichJesus taught his friends.” said Scarlett.

06.03.14 -World Book Day in Foundation Stage was really successful. The children and adults dressed up as characters from their favourite books. The librarian came to visit to read a story. Children’s book author Ed Wicke also came to visit the children to talk to them about writing stories.

04.03.14 -To mark Shrove Tuesday the children have been making pancakes.

Mrs Cannell tossed the pancake up in the air.

We had a pancake race!

12.02.14 -It’s ‘Love Week’ in Foundation Stage! We discussed how we show love to those who help us at home.

Dexter made a Valentine’s card. “Aren’t the hearts cool?” he asked. Everlyn was very proud of her achievement.

Katie carefully counted the arrows on the hearts and matched them to the numbers.

Leticia created a painting for her Dad. “I’ve made him a flower because I love him!”

18.01.14-The children listened to a Pirate story. Lizzie did some fantastic writing about whatthe Pirates in the story said.

17.01.14 - The children helped the adults decorate the entrance to the classrooms! “Who will we make walk the plank?” asked Jack.

16.01.14 - Katie, Joe and Declan found some treasure. Lizzie counted the treasure carefully and matched each bucket of objects to the corresponding number.

15.01.14 -With some help from Mrs Cannell, Katrina and Stanley made Pirate hats.

14.01.14- After visiting the Pantomime, the children came back from their Christmas Holiday excited about Pirates. Declan and Jack discovered a book about Pirates hiding in the story corner.

17/12/13 – The children have been preparing for Christmas.

"I've written a letter to Santa!" said Dexter.

10/12/13 - The children have been busy rehearsing for this year’s joint YR and Pre-School Christmas Nativity called ‘On A Starry Night’.

21/10/13 - It’s 'Pumpkin Week' in Reception! The children have been digging up spooky objects and identifying initial sounds.

"I've found some blood.... it begins with the B sound like bat!"said Olivia.

"I put my hand inside the feely box and felt a brain... it was all gooey!" said Tori.

11/10/13 - The childrenhave been learning about repeating patterns. Take a look at some of the wonderful patterns they have made in their play.

27/09/13 - A very warm welcome to our new Reception children. This week we have been experimenting with mark making. Some of us even had a go atwriting the 'u' pattern during Tummy Time.

23/07/13 – Goodbye to the Reception Class of 2013. We wish Mrs Silk the best of luck as she prepares to go on maternity leave.

19/07/13 – The children really enjoyed the ‘Water Frenzy! ‘We got the teachers really wet!’ said Ruby.

05/06/13 - Donatello the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtle visited Foundation Stage. He told the children that he needed their help as his friend Leonardo had gone missing.

The children helped Mr Barber write a description of Leonardo on the whiteboard.

Ollie had a go at writing his own description of Leonardo.

We talked about the difference between turtles and tortoises. “Turtles live in or near water!” said Daniel. “Tortoises live on the land!” stated Owen.

Mrs Miller brought her tortoise into Foundation Stage for the children to see!

“His hard shell protects him!” said Ruby.

07/05/13 – The children enjoyed the trip to Longdown Activity Farm. They got so much from feeding and handling the animals.

“It was so bumpy on the back of the tractor!” said Ka’son

“This rabbit is really soft!” commented Lenny.

“The goats were very thirsty!” said Davina.

“This play park is amazing!” commented Rebecca.

28/03/13 - We said farewell to Mrs Hudson by hosting a surprise tea party. The children enjoyed serving her a selection of cakes and biscuits. We thank Mrs Hudson for her dedication and commitment to the Foundation Stage team. It has been a pleasure working with Mrs Hudson and we wish her all the best in her future career.

26/03/13 -With Easter just around the corner, the children decided they wanted to make chocolate nest cakes!

Henry got himself into a bit of a pickle!

25/03/13 The children listened to the story of the ‘Last Supper’ and then re-told it by breaking bread and saying the ‘Our Father’. “These hot cross buns are scrumptious!” said Poppie.

20/03/13 - Doctor Who has been setting some of the boys in Reception a writing challenge! Who will be chosen tomorrow? “I can’t wait to get a challenge bag!” said Bryn.

The boys discovered a 'Ben Ten' box, which appeared in the Writing Area.

Rebeccacarefully reminded everyone that, “Swords are for writing, not for fighting!”

18/03/13 - The children have been developing their fine and gross motor control within their play.

Ka’son really loved feeding our new pet dog, which Shinji named ‘Ultraman-Cosmos’.

Ka’son explained “Feeding Ultraman-Cosmos helps me to build up the muscles in my hand so that it’s easier for me to hold a pencil”.

Jimmiand Aryaenjoyed drawing a Volcano in ‘Write Dance’.

Rebecca and her friends practiced making big marks on the wall with the decorating materials.

Daniel read the secret mission, "How fast can you thread the cowboy beads?"

04/02/13 - Large brown eggs appeared in the classroom. The children have been trying to guess what could be inside. "Is it a dinosaur?" asked Shinji. "Could it be a chick about to hatch?" askedHenry.

06/02/13 - The children discovered fossils buried under the tree - "It lookslikea dinosaur!" stated Amber.

07/02/13 - Niamhpainted a picture of the dinosaur fossils that were found.

08/02/13 - The children built a dinosaur cave. "It's very dark in here!" said Lauren.

08/02/13 - We recorded our learning on the 'Scrap Book' display.
