Dear Parents
ELECTION OF FOUNDATION AND PARENT GOVERNORS
We currently have both a Foundation Governor and Parent Governor Position available. As a result of this we are now required to canvass for any nominations for these positions. As many of you may already know, the governing body has an extremely important role: it is responsible for working strategically in partnership with the headteacher and staff to identify the most important aspects of the school that need to be improved, approving plans to achieve this and ensuring progress.
Please see the attached information relating to the role of both Parent and Foundation Governors as well as nomination forms.
All nominations should be popped into the letterbox inside the main school door by Monday 25th September2017. You may nominate yourself. Every nomination must be signed by the candidate, stating that they are willing to stand.
Assuming there is more than one nomination for each post, we will ask for nominee pen portraits by Friday 29th September. Ballot forms and nomination pen portraits will be sent out to parents on Monday 2nd October.
If you would like to know a little more about becoming a foundation or a parent governor, please get in touch with one of our governors – Fliss Pusey, James McBain, Clare Dellar, Duncan Ledger, Sally Honey, Julie Fenn or Rev’d Gareth Miller. By all means pop into the office and have a chat with me if you feel that would be helpful.
Please think about taking on the role, or suggesting someone who will do it well. We need committed parent and foundation governors to make the governing body as effective as it can be.
