Contest period:March 27 – May 27, 2013

Participants:

The contest is open to 2 (two) groups:

  1. Children aged 10 to 13 years old
  2. Children aged 14 to 16 years old

Stages of the contest:

  1. March 25 – April 15, 2013 – publishing of the contest terms and conditions.
  2. April 16 – May 27, 2013 – collection of entries.
  3. No later than 5of June – jury session and election of winners.
  4. Opening of an exhibition and award ceremony (no later than 12 of June). Date and venue: to be confirmed.

Objectives of the contest:

Whatcantoday'schildreninKyrgyzstanknowaboutthecultureofBritain? Quite a lot. “The House that Jack Built”, “Alice in Wonderland” of Lewis Carroll, Winnie the Pooh and Harry Potter can be good examples, as well as the familiar to all Big Ben, red double-decker buses, the tunnel under the English Channel and Dolly.Newton's laws, Cook's voyages and excerpts from Shakespeare are taught at schools of Kyrgyzstan. However, the English culture is much bigger and richer than what we can imagine! The main task of this contest is to attract children’s attention to new books, the Internet, and TV programs on travel to make them aware of new and useful aspects of cultures across Great Britain. If this happens, the organizers of the drawing contest will consider their task completed.

Rules of the contest:

The drawings submitted to the contest should contain the messages towards the British culture, its literature, fine art, architecture, science, technique, sport etc.

The paper dimensions must correspond to A3 size. Any drawing technique is accepted.

Total number of drawings must not exceed 5 from each submitter.

The next information should be pointed on the back of each entry:

  • Name of the entry
  • Name of the author
  • Age of the author
  • Home address, telephone number (mobile as well) of the author and his/her parents

There should not be any information on the face of the entries.

Prizes/Awards:

Age group from 10 to 13 years old

1st Prize - Amazon Kindle, eBook

2d Prize - Gift Certificate for an amount of 3000som in “Raritet” bookshop

3d Prize - Gift Certificate for an amount of 1500 som in “Raritet” bookshop (2 Prizes)

Recognition gift -Gift Certificate for an amount of 500 som in “Raritet” bookshop

Age group from 14 to 16 years old

1st Prize - Amazon Kindle, eBook

2d Prize - Gift Certificate for an amount of 3000 som in “Raritet” bookshop

3d Prize - Gift Certificate for an amount of 1500 som in “Raritet” bookshop (2 Prizes)

Recognition gift - Gift Certificate for an amount of 500 som in “Raritet” bookshop

All winners will receive contest diplomas.

  1. The exhibition will be held based on the results of the contest. Date and venue: to be confirmed.

Professionalartists. The list of jury panel will be confirmed.

All rights reserved.The entries may be used by the British Embassy in Bishkek fornon-commercial purposes and campaigns (such as posters and other publications). The entries will not be returned.

By presenting the drawings to the contest the authors of the entries express agreement to the terms of the contest.

The judging panel is entitled not to consider the entries which are not relevant to the theme of the contest.

All drawings must be submitted to “Balajan” Republican Training Center of Aesthetic Education by 18:00, May 27, 2013 by the following address: 53, Moscow str, Bishkek city.
