BLESSED EVENT CHARACTER AND CAST INFORMATION
There are nine characters interacting in the show:
CHARLIE - the understanding yet stubborn patriarch who hates his next door neighbor and is madly in love with Vanna White.
GERTRUDE – Charlie’s doting wife who is constantly concerned that everybody gets along and everybody’s bellies are full.
WILLIAM – the oldest son who lives his life in Brooks Brothers suits and detests getting his hands dirty.
JOCELYN – recently divorced from William. She is the woman who would be Queen.
MICHELE – Charlie and Gertrude’s daughter. Earthy. A hippie. An women’s liberation activist.
TOM – the other son. Down to earth, likable. Easy going. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a automobile mechanic.
CHERYL – Tom’s wife. Pretty. Unassuming. An elementary school teacher. She has a special, loving bond with Charlie.
PHILIP – Charlie and Gertrude’s youngest child. He’s gay, and he makes no bones about it. He’s also a very successful large animal veterinarian.
T’AUNT SOPHIE – bizarre, eccentric, comical and loud sister to Charlie.
The cast for the upcoming dramatic reading was hand-picked by the playwright. They are all excellent actors who bring tremendous energy and passion to their roles.
