August 8, 2017 @ 7:00pm Meeting called to order by Lori Reed w/ 2nd response by Kelly Stacy

WELCOME

Introductions: President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Bookkeeper, Members at Large

7:04pm CB spoke about the committees available/signed up for with the packet of Band forms given at the May meeting & introduction of the Committees Chairs (Updates):

Thanks for all your help with summer fundraisers, band camp, getting everything started for the year. Lots of preparation happens over the summer and through band camp!!  Everyone in attendance at the meeting was encouraged to sign up for a committee if they have not done so yet.

7:08pm JB back to podium ~ encouraging any ideas to better the band and/or the Boosters to be shared with a Committee Member. NEW BUSINESS

Concert Band

  • We encourage all students to take private lessons. Teachers will be coming into class to meet students & have them sign up for lessons.
  • Mid State music will be out soon. We encourage all members to audition.
  • Dress Rehearsal September 18th 3:45-6 (for Wind Ensemble & Symphonic Band + Percussion) in Band Room
  • Dress Rehearsal September 25th 3:45-5 (for Concert Band + Percussion) in Band Room
  • Dress Rehearsal #2 – Tuesday, September 26 (3:45-6pm) in Auditorium – all band members
  • Fall Concert: Thursday, September 28 @ 7pm. (No FOOTBALL BAND rehearsal after school); All black concert attire.

Football Band

  • Our first game is @ HOME on Aug. 18
  • Working on getting buses for Rhea County; tentative pep band for both Rhea County & Cookeville
  • Check website for away game itineraries; hard copies will go home with students
  • Homecoming & Alumni Night – Sept. 8
  • 8th Grade Night – Sept. 22
  • MARCH-A-THON – Saturday, Sept. 23
  • Senior Night – Sept. 29

**7:13pm Lori Reed discussed the March-a-thon in more detail (the routes and neighborhoods participating, ways to volunteer as a parent and the desire to get a point of contact for Victory Pointe neighborhood to add to our route.)

7:16pm Wendy Brown gave a TREASURER REPORT

She discussed our bank switch from Capital to Pinnacle and said that in a few days she will completely close out the Capital bank acct. as she was waiting on all transactions to clear. Student payments are now past due. She encouraged anyone with a balance and is having trouble making the full payment, to please contact her to make individual arrangements.

7:20 pm JB discussed our summer purchase of a new trailer, maintenance of the Bad Boy, Uniform Fittings & Fundraisers in more detail.

Fundraisers

  • Active: Calendar Sale – every student sells 4 calendars ($5 each) = $20 *If Ordered, the magnet ($5) total of $5
  • Active: March-a-thon – Saturday, Sept. 23; students take pledges/donations, get sponsors for T-shirts & march
  • Active: TITANS!!!! Every family works AT LEAST ONE event. Sign up through Wendy Brown ()
  • Active:Dinner & Auction
  • Passive: KROGER CARDS, Amazon, Blaze Band Partners
  • Kroger Cards: Everyone needs to register again for the new school year Starting September 1st.

7:25pm Michelle McDaniel spoke about Spirit Wear along with a visual slide show showing the process of finding the site online/examples of merch. that is available. The pop up online shop will stay open until this Friday (8/11/17) and those ordered items will be brought to the band room in approximately 2 weeks by Wendy Brown, pre bagged/labeled and sent home with your student. MM encouraged booster members to let her know if there was an item not in our current shop that they are interested in purchasing and she can look into adding it to our next 2 week shop.

7:27pm JB resumed the meeting with an overview of our Concrete situation for our trailers….. he reviewed with the booster attendees the quote we received from Chris Griffith (worst case scenario being $8,000). He said we will also get a 2nd quote to assure we get the best price.

7:32pm Motion for cement pour voted on and passed at the meeting. No “No’s” recorded at the vote.

Members Questions & Comments

  • Thursday practices ~ with it still being hot outside, please encourage your child/children to hydrate a day before and EAT LUNCH on Thursdays. Also, maybe sending them with a protein bar or extra snack for after school may help with their stamina in the heat.
  • Call Time Means ~ IN UNIFORM and READY to go!

7:35 pm ~ CB up to present Special Acknowledgements certificates to outstanding volunteers for our summer band camp.

7:45pm ~ JB back up to close the meeting

7:47pm ~ Christy McGriff – Motion to Adjourn & Kelly Stacy was the 2nd to motion.
