Billy Quigley Leader in Action Award – 2015 Application

William “Billy” Quigley Jr. was a dedicated student leader at Illinois State University at the time of his death on November 26, 2008 as a result of an automobile accident. Billy was an honor student from Wilmington, IL majoring in Business and Finance, and was passionate about supporting and engaging students in campus programs and activities. Billy earned leadership roles with both the University Program Board and the Campus Involvement Ambassadors. This award honors student leaders at Illinois State in honor of Billy’s enthusiasm, dedication, and pride.

Leader in Action Award criteria:

  1. Nominee must be a full-time student enrolled at Illinois State University in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  2. Nominee demonstrates the ability to motivate other students to take specific action causing personal and/or group growth and development.
  3. Nominee demonstrates the ability to support and motivate fellow students during their developmental process.
  4. Nominee expresses a passion for creating targeted social change at Illinois State University.
  5. Nominee shows a history of guiding fellow students through individual mentoring and supportive behavior.
  6. Nominee displays a genuine interest in the well-being of others.

  • RSOs in which you are involved
  • Positions in which you have served in those RSOs
  • Your off-campus involvement
  • Length of time you have been involved in the RSOs and/or off-campus involvement
  • One letter of support from faculty, staff, advisor.
