Benefits and conditions
The proposed Lay Staff Collective Employment Agreement 2015 offers employees the following benefits and conditions.
Key benefits
Annual pay increase
Eligible employees receive a3% pay increase every year.
Superannuation during maternity leave
Paid superannuation during unpaid periods of maternity leave
Time in lieu for personal reasons
Employees may request time in lieu for personal reasons.
12 days personal leave
Employees will receive 12 days personal leave each year
(The current agreement provides 10 days).
Paid parental leave & partner leave
Eligible employees will receive 13 weeks on full pay or 26 weeks on half pay.
Eligible partners may receive up to 10 days leave on full pay.
Greater access to unpaid partner leave in the first 12 months of the child’s life
Other benefits
Work-life balance
37.5 hour working week.
Time in lieu for business reasons
Employees receive time in lieu for overtime worked for business purposes.
First Peoples
A First Peoples clause will now be included
Consultation
A clause will be included that confirms an ongoing commitment to consultation between staff and the Synod.
Personal leave pool
A pool of 500 hours additional personal leave will be available for employees whose entitlements have been exhausted.
Purchased annual leave
Employees currently receive 4 weeks paid annual leave per year and can now purchase up to two weeks annual leave every year.
The current agreement allows for one week of purchased leave per year.
Support for those who experience domestic violence
Provisions will be introduced to support those experiencing domestic violence.
Extra duties and higher duties allowances
Employees can be paid for additional work they take on in the absence of a manager or colleague.
Negative personal leave balance
The negative personal leave balance will be increased to3 days (previously 2 days). Employees may move into three days negative leave balance if needed.
Compassionate leave
The 2015 Agreement provides improved wording.
Blood donor leave
Employees may access up to 2 hours leave to donate blood at the Blood Bank during work hours.
Defence Forces leave
Employees may apply for leave to meet Defence Force commitments.
Emergency services leave
Employees will be entitled to up to 5 days paid leave for emergency community service commitments.
Study leave
The 2015 Agreement provides improved wording.
