COUNSELOR OAK HARBOR HIGH SCHOOL

REQUIREMENTS:

 Valid Washington State ESA certificate as a school counselor

 MA with major concentration in the area of counseling. Coursework comparable to a MA may be substituted

 Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and community agencies

 Ability to instruct parents and staff on improved methods of working with issues leading to high school graduation

 Competence in instructing and counseling students on WASL student learning plans

 Knowledge of programs and techniques for building self-esteem, social skills, and anger

 Ability to work flexible hours

GENERAL FUNCTION: The Oak Harbor School District is accepting applications for a high school counselor (grades 9-12). The position includes all facets of a comprehensive counseling program appropriate to a high school including scheduling, individual counseling, Collection of Evidence and HB6023 graduation requirements, knowledge, and oversight.

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: September 2013

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Terms of employment for a 1.0 FTE teacher during the 2013-2014 school year include a 180-day work year and 22 additional days, which are available after meeting district guidelines. Each employee is also eligible to receive twelve sick leave days and two annual leave days. Salary placement is based on the State Salary Schedule. For the 2013-2014 school year, the base salary ranges from $34,269 for a person with a Bachelor’s degree and no experience to $64,591 for a person with a Master’s degree + 90 credits and 16 years of experience; this is base salary only and does not include any additional pay. During the 2012-2013 school year, $732.83 per month was provided to help a full-time employee defray the cost of health premiums that include mandatory dental, vision, and long term disability insurance, and optional medical, salary, and life insurance. If employed less than full time (1.0 FTE), days, salary, and health premiums are pro-rated based on FTE.
