Below are the MSC Wiley executive positions and their descriptions:

MAIN PROGRAM

Select topic and speakers; complete necessary paperwork for speaker and program approval; work with the Chair to procure speakers and maintain periodic contact with speaker agencies; approach friends of Wiley to write letters of recommendation; obtain letters of recommendation from key administrators and organizations; create speaker packets; arrange any speaking engagements for speakers while on campus (i.e. classes or organizations); conduct post program evaluations; prepare and update transition materials for successor. Work with Chair to present program proposal to Program Advancement Team (PAT).

SYMPOSIA

Plan and coordinate one fall program, one fall constitution day symposia, and two symposia in the spring; identify relevant topics and current speakers on the topic in order to create program proposals; work with the Chair and Advisor to procure speakers and maintain contact with them; work closely with other organizations and departments to find co-programming opportunities; conduct post-program evaluations; arrange any other speaking engagements for speakers while on campus (i.e. classes or organizations); work closely with Operations and Marketing in order to provide them with essential information in a timely manner; prepare and update transition materials for successor.

OPERATIONS

The Director of Operations will plan and execute the itineraries; arrange all logistical items for the speakers; set up ticketing and complementary ticket list; management of space (stage set up, ushering, etc.); secure in-kind donations for operating expenses; plan and coordinate receptions; reserve rooms for programs and meetings; keep supply and equipment inventory; prepare and update transition materials for successor.

MEDIA RELATIONS

Advertisement of all Wiley programs via social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube). Establishment and maintenance of Wiley website. Publicize Wiley when there are not upcoming programs, via member spotlights, Throwback Thursdays and etc. Develop short videos to sell the Wiley experience and upcoming programs. Identify additional media opportunities. Coordinate with Marketing Director for complete marketing plan for all programs. Knowledge of Wordpress is preferred. Prepare and update transition materials for successor.

MARKETING

Advertisement of all Wiley programs via following media (presentations, emails, flyers, etc.); publicize Wiley when there are not upcoming programs; develop all printed materials for Wiley programs (flyers, program booklets, etc.); communicate with other Wiley subcommittees to create program marketing materials; prepare and update transition materials for successor. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Knowledge of InDesign and/or Photoshop is preferred. Coordinate with Media Relations Director for complete marketing plan for all programs. Prepare and update transition materials for successor.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT

Responsible for recruiting and retention efforts; plan a fall and a spring retreat to develop members as professional leaders; secure speakers to engage members on foreign policy topics, career paths, and professional development, such as resumes, dinner etiquette, and a reception workshop; carry out administrative duties such as ordering t-shirts and nametags; prepare and update transition materials for successor.

CONTRIBUTOR RELATIONS

Achieve fundraising goals in cooperation with Development Director. Plan and coordinate office visits with established contacts, and those neglected in the past, monitor incoming funds; document development endeavors in Raiser’s Edge, tailor fundraising materials for specific contributor needs; coordinate representation and of members for MSC Development Tailgates and Luncheons and other events; develop a concrete schedule and timeline for each fundraising endeavor; ensure contributor recognition; practice good donor stewardship through thank you notes and other correspondences; coordinate possibility of Contributor Banquet/Reception with Chair and Advisor. Prepare and update transition materials for successor. Coordinate with Development Director to develop Development Plan for the 2019-2020 year.

DEVELOPMENT

Achieve fundraising goals in cooperation with Contributor Relations Director; train subcommittee members; identify new prospects; develop strategies to approach more foundations and corporations; document development endeavors in Raiser’s Edge; tailor fundraising materials for specific grant and sponsorship needs; coordinate representation of corporate sponsorship with Advisor and Chair. Coordinate with Contributor Relations Director to develop Development Plan for the 2019-2020 year. Prepare and update transition materials for successor.
