“Believe, Achieve, Succeed together”
Dear Parent/Guardian,
A big thank you to all the parents who volunteered for the trip to the zoo last week. The children in Reception all had a fantastic time and enjoyed themselves and I think it was mainly the adults who came back exhausted! We do appreciate you offering your time and this means that we can plan exciting opportunities for the children.
Caretaker
Our caretaker left last Friday but I am very pleased to say that we have appointed a new caretaker who is a local man and who will start with us after Christmas. Mr High is a very experienced caretaker and we are very excited about him joining the team. This does mean that we will be without full caretaking cover for the rest of term, so please let us know if we are forgetting anything…it will not be on purpose so please bear with us!
Reading
Last week the leadership team collected in reading diaries right across the school. Thank you so much to those families who regularly read with their children and who sign the diaries. There were some fantastic examples of communication and dialogue about reading between home and school.
There were also some year groups where barely half the diaries were in school. It is really important that children practice their reading at home. It is like learning to drive a car…we can all learn the theory but unless we go out driving we cannot become skilled drivers! Please try to read every day and talk to your children about what they are reading. Thank you.
Futsal
Well done to the teams last week from Years Three and Four who played in a tournament at St Luke’s. One team came back with the ‘Spirit of the Games’ medals having scored 69 out of 70 points for teamwork skills. Fantastic!
Coats
Please make sure your child has a coat in school as the weather is so much colder, thank you.
New Gate
I am sure you will have noticed that we have a new gate by the community room. This is so that we can make sure cars stay in the car park and do not try to drive down to the playground which has occasionally happened with deliveries. It is also to prevent children walking through the car park to access the classrooms around the back of the building as this is not safe. We are also looking into getting the path between the front and back playgrounds widened as that is a very busy route.
Christmas Fete
It is our Christmas Fete on Friday 2nd December at 2.30pm. You are welcome to collect your child from their classrooms at 2.30pm, to take them around the fete. Please collect them from the external classroom doors (like at home time) and then walk around to the Community room door which will be the main entrance to the fair; this will allow the office to remain in operation! Please make sure they take everything with them as they will not be allowed back into class. Thank you.
There will be cakes, refreshments, variousgames and stalls, face painting, an Avon stall, and of course Father Christmas and his Elf! We also have some amazing raffle prizes this year, including scooters, food hampers andtwo children's bikes from Halfords, worth over £250.00 each! We look forward to seeing you there! Raffle tickets and tickets for the bikes and scooters will be available before and after school from Monday - Thursday next week, from outside Reception.
PTA Christmas Cards
The Christmas cards and gifts are on the way so hopefully will be passed onto the class teachers by the end of this week. This year there are special C codes on the back of the cards. These allow you to order additional products such as coasters, teddy bears, water bottles and more! We will be placing a late order, so if you did miss the deadline, please can you ensure all orders are with us no later than Tuesday 29th November. Thank you.
