“Believe, Achieve, Succeed together”
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Great News
We have heard that we are in the top 200 schools nationally for fundraising for Sport Relief and Comic Relief. This is a fantastic achievement when you consider how many schools there are, so well done to everyone and thank you for supporting such great causes! As a result of this amazing achievement, we are going to get a visit from an Olympic athlete in school which will be inspirational for the children. I will keep you informed once we know more details.
Parents’ Evening
This is next Wednesday and Thursday, so please make an appointment. The teachers will be able to explain the progress your children are making and provide any information about additional support.
Clubs
Clubs will start a week later than we thought due to parents’ evening. They will start on Monday 15th January. You should receive a letter home with highlighted clubs that your child has a place in. Please remember what days the clubs are and try to avoid asking in the office – it would really help. The clubs generally take place in the classroom of the teacher who is running them, so that is where the children need to be collected from. Many of the clubs have waiting lists and any child who does not attend regularly, will have their place removed and it will be offered to someone on the waiting list. The clubs are also listed on the school website.
Reception School Places for September
Please remember that it is nearly the deadline for applying for a Reception school place for September. If you have any questions about how to apply, please come and ask and we will be happy to help. The deadline is Monday 15th January 2018.
Reading News
What a start to the spring term! Our amazing readers at Willowbrook have only been back a few days but we have already had 35 scores of 100% in our Accelerated Reader Quizzes. A special mention goes to the following children who have already scored 100% TWICE since our return- Andra B, Hider F, Katie H and Cody G.
As a class 4W have 11 x 100% scores and they have a class average of 98.6% which is fantastic progress and a great way to begin the term. Let's keep it up!
Mathletics
Well done to the children keeping up with their Mathletics during the holidays! The following children have earned certificates:
Bronze:
Holly V (1D), Joshua S (2BG) , John P (3H) x 2, Ferdouse R (4H), Jayden S (4W), Wyatt C (5B), Ebony H (5B), Paris L (5B), Daniya J (5P), Dan S (6BM), Jacob H (6W), Caitlin R (6W), Cody W (6W)

Running
At break times, some lunchtimes and with their class, the children can run laps of the track and we record this on the Golden Mile website. I am amazed at the distances they run and the children love it as a way of competing with each other and staying fit. A special mention to Jakob M in Year Four who is the first person to run 50 miles!
