“Beholding The Glory Of Jesus”

ICE BREAKER: What does the word “GLORY” mean to you?
[Allow a few minutes for feedback]

WORD STUDY:

Glory Greek: Doxa
Strongs: glory (as very apparent), in a wide application (literally or figuratively, objectively or subjectively): -
dignity, glory (-ious), honour, praise, worship.

Another way of looking at “the glory of the Lord”, is that it refers to the brightness and the splendor that emanates from His presence. It is a declaration of His reputation, His character, His Divine personality.

READ: 2 Corinthians: 3v18
But we ALL, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, ARE being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Behold The Glory Of Jesus In You

CLARIFY: When you look in a mirror, what do you see? Of course, you see yourself. But God does not want you to see yourself in the natural. You may be sick, weak, broke and depressed, yet God wants you to see yourself the way He sees you — healed, strong, rich and whole because Christ is in you

READ: Colossians: 1v27
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

CLARIFY: Our Heavenly father wants you to behold as in a mirror the glory of His Son who is IN you by the Holy Spirit. As you do this, His Word says that you are being transformed from glory TO glory – From poor TO rich, from sick TO health, from loser TO winner!
The world may say to you, “It can’t be that easy. You can’t be transformed just by beholding the glory of Jesus. NO, you must do something about you. If you don’t put in effort, nothing will happen. If you don’t start making changes nothing will change”.
But the world will NEVR understand that as you are beholding the glory of the Lord, who is the successful one IN you, you are being transformed from a failure to a success. And this can NEVER be accomplished by any effort of yours to get ahead in life. This can only be achieved by the SPIRIT!

READ: Zechariah: 4v6
So he answered and said to me: "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the LORD of hosts.

CLARIFY: Think of what happened to Moses on Mount Sinai and he only saw the Lord from the back but now in Christ He wants us in an intimate relationship where we can see Him face to face!

READ: Exodus: 34v28-35

Verse 28 So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

Verse 29 Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses' hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.

Verse 30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.

Verse 31 Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses talked with them.

Verse 32 Afterward all the children of Israel came near, and he gave them as commandments all that the LORD had spoken with him on Mount Sinai.

Verse 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face.

Verse 34 But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he would take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded.

Verse 35 And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.

QUESTION: Did you notice that they had to put a veil over the face of Moses? What do you think that symbolized?

[Allow a few minutes for feedback]

CLARIFY: The first thing I want to point out is what effort did Moses have to exert in order for him to be able to reflect the glory of his Lord? – NONE! It was merely the reaction of an intimate encounter with his Redeemer!! There is NO way that you can have a personal encounter with the Lord and remain the same!!

Secondly, look at the effect – Moses didn’t even know what or WHO he was reflecting but the people saw!

The third thing that I want to point out is that the people asked for him to wear a Vail but he would not wear one when he stood before the Lord – just like us as we stand before Him, totally transparent and open!

READ: 2Corinthians: 3v18

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

CONCLUSION: As we behold the glory of the Lord who is in our sick bodies, we will be transformed FROM sickness to health. And this is NOT accomplished by self effort of ours to keep fit and well, but by the working of the Spirit of the Lord!

Friends, what could be easier than beholding the beauty of the Son? So, stop focusing on yourselves and your efforts. Look away from these things and begin to behold the glory of Jesus who is IN you now, and you will begin to behold the miracles that you need!!

The truth is that as Christians our lives, whether we like it or not or even want it or not will reflect the Lord to those around us. The questions I must ask myself are;

  • “How much of His glory is my life reflecting?”
  • “How intimate and honest is my relationship with Him?”

CLARIFY: There is therefore now NO condemnation to those in GRACE; the more you look to Him the more you become like Him…..keep looking and you will keep changing!!

AMEN
