BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT REWARD PLAN FOR K-8 PHYSICAL EDUCATION

After students understand the class rules and the consequences for breaking each rule, it is important to implement a set of positive consequences for student behavior. The following is a program designed to reward positive behavior management for both individual and a group setting.

INDIVIDUAL BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT REWARDS (K-5 ONLY)

Each class (k, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th) will have their own RACING TO SUCCESS poster board displayed on the wall in the gymnasium. Each students name will be listed under their respective class. Students will receive star stickers when they display CARING responsible student behavior. Examples of Caring responsible students behavior are as follows:

-Helping someone who is having trouble

-Cheering on teammates

-Helping a new student feel welcome

-Helping pick up equipment WHEN ASKED

-Any behavior the teacher feels appropriate

*When a student fills up their board (25 stars), they will be rewarded with a selection of 1 item from the “grab bag.” When a students receives two stickers on each space (50 stickers total), they will be allowed to choose 2 items from the “grab bag” or choose one item from “grab bag 2.” Any student who receives 100 stars by the end of the year, will be allowed to participate in a year end physical education party.

GROUP BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT REWARDS (K-8)

Each class (k, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th) will be participating in the On Track with Good Behavior behavior management class competition.

SETUP: A racetrack with pictures depicting various US destinations will be displayed on the gymnasium wall. Each class will choose a race car that will represent their respective class. The race cars will begin at the starting line.

DESCRIPTION: At the end of each physical education class, classes will be rewarded for good behavior with a hornet certificate. These hornet tickets will be taken back to the homeroom teacher, where they will be placed in a paper clap and tallied (write the number on the back of the ticket). When the students receive 10 tickets, they will move their car to the next destination on the racetrack. This will continue each time students receive 10 tickets. At the end of the school year, the class who has traveled to the furthest destination will be awarded with a class party. (kind of party to be determined)
