Outcome: TSW be able to estimate the quotients of decimals and judge the reasonableness of the results.

Before: TSW answer the problem of the day.

During: TTW introduce chapter 3 lesson 6. TSW complete guided practice on page 226.

After: TSW will work in their small groups to complete their assignments. Students will complete an exit slip.

Science

Outcome: TSW model earthquakes that a seismograph can record.

Before: TSW answer a warm up question to activate prior knowledge.

During: TSW will test one of the three variables using a seismograph. TSW create a T-Chart to record their observations.

After: TSW answer Inquiry 3.1, questions A-D found on pg. 33.

Outcome: TSW divide decimals by whole numbers. TSW divide decimals by decimals

Before: TSW answer the problem of the day.

During: TTW review homework. TTW introduce lesson 7 and 8. TSW complete guided practice on page 234 and 242.

After: TSW will work in their small groups to complete their assignments. Students will complete an exit slip.

Outcome: TSW be able to read a seismogram.

Before: TSW answer a warm up question to activate prior knowledge.

During: TSW look at the Bellingham, Washington seismogram and discuss it with their group.

After: TSW create an exit slip.

Before: TSW answer the problem of the day.

During: TSW review lessons 5-8.

After: TSW will work in their small groups to complete their assignments.

Science

Outcome: TSW be able to explore how scientist use earthquake waves to determine whether the earth is a solid, liquid or gas.

Before: TSW answer a warm up question to activate prior knowledge.

During: TSW compare an apple and an avocado. How are they alike? How are they different? TSW record what they already know about the earth’s interior structure on a KWL in their SNB. Then record what they want to know.

After: TSW answer question from the Smart Board in their SNB.

During: TSW read “The Earth’s Interior” on pgs. 70-71. TSW answer the question, “Why are the images on the CD-ROM and in the reading selection drawings rather than photographs?”

After: TSW draw and describe each layer of the earth.
