Call to Order. President Zelekcalled the meeting to order 7:00pm.

Roll Call. Roll and attendance were taken; results noted as above.

Swearing in ceremony for Deputy Chief Fred Friedl. Recess at 7:03pm

Return to meeting at 7:28pm.

Motion to Pay the Bills and accept Financial Statements for this meeting–TrusteeDeBoer moved to accept the financial statements/report as presented and pay the bills in the amount of $47,980.28.TrusteeSittigseconded. President:

  • Discussed Zion/Beach Park Functional consolidation meeting held on April 27, 2018.

Treasurer:

  • Good job on Budget.

Secretary:

  • Nothing to report.

Attorney:

  • Discussed Senate Bill 1335 and repercussions if it passes.

Pension Board:

  • Bill Reffell retired from the Pension Board. FF/PM Andrew Morelli is now a member of the Pension Board.
  • Trustee Ted Zelek appointed as member of the Board.
  • Trustee Marianne DeBoer appointed as Treasurer.

Chiefs’ Report:

Governmental Agencies

  • The Beach Park/Zion consolidation process. Discussed ongoing Phase 2 study.

Apparatus:

  • New Engine 1211 Progress report. Progressing well.Discussed possible late fall 2018 delivery.
  • 1272-Tony Rdzok is getting quotes on equipment for the Hummer to configure as a brush truck.
  • 1299-RV EMS trailer was damaged while being stored at Village of Beach Park. An independent contractor back into if causing damage to the side rear crease. No one from the Village has contacted the Chief as of yet, regarding repairs.

Procedures:

  • Combined joint SOP with Zion for EMS in-station CE classes will be starting May 29, 2018. Will switch off stations every month. Each station will cover the other during this time for calls.

Training:

  • ALT Stahl is the new Training Officer. He will be meeting with area training officers soon.

Fire Prevention:

  • No report.

EMS:

  • Received $24,916.22for April, 2018 ambulance billing. Ended the Fiscal year with $255,000.00 received.
  • Thanks to Katie Roberts for all her hard work.

Station 1:

  • Need to replace portions of the front ramp that are crumbling into the bay.
  • Roof over apparatus floor is leaking by ATV and Chief’s vehicle.
  • Need to do maintenance on overhead doors.

Station 2:

  • No report.

IT System:

  • EMnet computer crashed and was replaced.

Budget/District Finances:

  • FY2017-2018 Budget. Discussed close out of Fiscal year.
  • FY2018-2019 Budget update.
  • President Ted Zelek

District Business

  • Discussed Phase 2 study with City of Zion as previously written.
  • Accrual vs Cash basis for accounting. Chief Tierney spoke with Calene Zabinski, District accountant, and she advised that we would be keeping the accounting as cash basis for now.
  • FY ending April 30, 2018 Audit will begin on May 15, 2018.
  • Will transfer $100,00.00 to the Pension fund in June after Tax distribution is received.
  • Eligibility list for Full Time Firefighter Paramedics will be expiring in August. Will need to establish a new list.
  • Will need to have a testing process. DC Friedl will oversee.

Personnel

  • Swearing in of new Deputy Chief.
  • FF/PM Christian Samuels received an ankle injury on a fire call. He has a badly sprained ankle and will be going to physical therapy and will be on light duty until released for full duty. He will be working on pre-plans and Pub Ed.

Executive Session

  • Nothing to report.
