Keyworker (part time)
Location / Unseen’sWATER Project
Reports to / House Manager
Purpose / Unseen directly support survivors of trafficking, men, women and children.
The Keyworker role will be based at Unseen’s 24/7 staffed women’s safe house.
The Keyworker will:
  1. Manage their own caseload, working to support plans, in partnership with their clients for the duration of their stay
  2. Be responsible for day to day service provision
  3. Take on supervisory responsibilities of volunteers and student placements
  4. Promote best practice in supporting survivors and monitor impact of the services and outcomes for survivors.
This role is part of a job share.The shift pattern for the role is based upon alternative week shift patterns and includes early shifts (8am-4pm) and late shifts(11am – 7pm). The role also includes being on-call one week a month, including weekends, and will require some weekend work when required.
Salary Range / PP18-25 = £21,056 - £25,453 pro ratadepending on experience
Hours of work / 20 hours per week including some weekend shifts plus on-call
Entitlements / Full time staff receive 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
Unseen is enrolling on a pension scheme that is due to commence in 2016

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  1. Manage their own caseload of clients
  2. Plan and hold weekly key-work sessions with all clients
  3. Attend appointments with clients as needed and as identified via key-work sessions
  4. Advocate for clients with other professionals and agencies
  5. Create, manage and review client support plans and risk management plans in conjunction with client
  6. Conduct and review client needs and risk assessments in conjunction with client
  7. Induct new clients into the house, offering practical advice and ensuring clients understand the NRM system and their rights and entitlements.
  8. Coordinate support, allocating tasks to colleagues and referring on to partner agencies as necessary
  9. . Develop and maintain professional relationships with outside agencies to establish necessary links to address clients’ needs.
  10. Promote empowerment and a sense of independence for clients in the way you work and manage your case load, encouraging clients to take on their own tasks and to play a pro-active part in their journey through the safe house
  11. Work with clients and partner agencies to prepare for move on from the service and plan for resettlement in the UK, country of origin or elsewhere.
  12. Participate in the weekly case review sessions with team

2Responsible for day to day service provision

2.1Be part of rota to ensure project is sufficiently staffed 24/7.

2.2Participate in the On-Call Rota for project

2.3Complete daily security checks and health and safety checks on the premise and building

2.4Complete welfare checks on all clients, responding appropriately when required.

2.5Research, develop and facilitate house meeting each morning for all clients.

2.6Deliver lessons to all clients in identified areas: life skills, budgeting, cooking English, Maths, and computing.

2.7Develop programmes to meetall clients’ needs: self-harm, self-esteem, body image, healthy relationships, employment skills, communication skills.

2.8Take part in thorough handover with colleagues at the start and end of your shift.

2.9Attend compulsory training

2.12Participate and add value to the general running of the house and the atmosphere at the project

3. Take on supervisory responsibilities of volunteers and student placements.

3.1Attend required training in order to offer effective supervision of students on placement and volunteers at the service.

3.2Be responsible for induction, regular supervision and monitoring the work of these colleagues.

3.3Report into House Manager on progress, development and issues with staff under your supervision.

  1. Promote best practice in supporting survivors and monitor impact of the services and outcomes for survivors. Encourage and facilitate client feedback into the service
  2. Keep clear and objective case notesfor all clients
  3. Provide supporting information for clients when required
  4. Complete relevant monitoring sheets and forms with clients in a timely manner
  5. Keep data records up to date for monitoring and evaluation purposes
  6. Report to House Manager with areas for development and service improvement
  7. Attend and contribute to case-review meetings, team meetings and meetings with partner agencies
  8. Encourage client involvement and continually evaluate usefulness of current client involvement processes.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1 / Significant previous experience in health / social work / working with vulnerable adults.
2 / Significant experience in working in a residential care/support setting
3 / Significant experience of working with clients to develop and implement support plans.
4 / Ability to promote informed choice for clients
5 / Significant experience of working with and advocating on behalf of vulnerable people
6 / Understanding of the support needs of individuals who have been trafficked
7 / A track record of successfully developing positive, productive and collaborative working relationships with service users and partner agencies
8 / Understanding of working with the National Referral Mechanism
9 / A good understanding of and an awareness of the rights and entitlements (including housing and benefits legislation) of trafficked persons, asylum seekers and refugees
10 / Experience of accurate record keeping and monitoring
