BASKETBALL SKILL DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY
Coach Lacey and the Varina Blue Devils Men’s Basketball Program will be hosting the Annual Basketball Skill Development Academy for rising 3rd-9th grades in the fall of 2015. The academy will emphasize skill development, basketball classroom, and live competition. The 4-day camp will also include individual competitions and games with awards for the Champions in each division.
Academy Objective
The main objective of the Basketball Academy is to focus on individual player development, teamwork, court awareness, basketball knowledge and sportsmanship. Instruction will include – creating your own scoring opportunity, training the Triple Threat, defense, shooting, agility, rebounding, and the fast break – while stressing the importance of hard work and discipline. Campers will be divided into different divisions and will compete within their own division unless otherwise requested.
CAMP STAFF
Andrew Lacey, Varina’s Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Academy Director was named 2015 Conference 3 Coach of Year after directing Varina to the 2015 Conference 3 Championship in his 2nd season leading the program. Coach Lacey has amassed over 100 career wins in a very short nine year coaching career. He played college basketball at Bridgewater College where he was a four-year letter winner. He also has worked camps at VCU, EMU, JMU and the Naval Academy.
In addition to Coach Lacey, there will be other high school coaches and current/ former players.
Meals/Snacks
There will be a daily snack bar where campers can buy sports drinks, and other snacks during our summer camps. Campers should also pack their lunch daily.

$10 Group Discount - $10 off per camper for groups of 5-10 campers.
To receive this discount, all applications must be submitted together.
