Barrie supports World Wide Pressure Ulcer Prevention Day November 19, 2015
What is a pressure ulcer?
Pressure ulcers, also called bed sores, are injuries to skin and underlying tissue resulting from prolonged pressure and shear on the skin. Pressure ulcers most often develop on skin that covers bony areas of the body, such as the sit bones, heels, ankles, hips, tailbone, back of the head, spine and shoulder blades.
Comfort and pressure wound prevention, seating and mobility Specialist Czeslaw Cimachowski, President of Top Motion and Mobility Inc., the Barrie based company has the answer!
Top Motion and Mobility assists Simcoe County residents by delivering educational presentations and hands-on information on Pressure Wound Prevention. They will highlight the contributing factors for pressure ulcers formation and why support surfaces play a key role in prevention.
Czeslaw will speak about how properly assessed and chosen support surfaces can optimise pressure care in the real world for better outcomes. Czeslaw will expose the values of pressure mapping as a tool used to evaluate the wheelchair seat and mattress surface to reduce the risk of pressure ulcers.
