Classroom Teacher Special Education Terms 1-4, 2017

Expressions of interest are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity relieving in the position of Classroom Teacher Special Education for 2017, with the possibility of an extension into 2018. The position with be located at:

Banora Point High SchoolLeisure Drive, Banora Point

Banora Point High School has a current enrolment of approximately 565 students, including 70Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students and a support unit for students with a range of disabilities. The school was established in 2004 and is currently in an exciting phase of its development. It is located in a growth area of the Far North Coast offering the facilities and services of a major metropolitan area. The school is strongly committed to collaboration with the Aurora Learning Community and the Tweed Valley Secondary Schools (Tweed 5) in developing a stronger senior curriculum and has established strong relationships with local universities. Current focus areas are middle school initiatives, embedding evidence based instructional strategies and developing a personalised learning approach to meet the needs of the 21st Century learner.

Statement of duties

§  Teaching Stage 4,5 and 6 within a range of KLA's for students within IS/IO and MC classes

Selection criteria

Approval to teach Special Education and / or experience within Special Education

Evidence of exemplary quality teaching to integrate a differentiated curriculum into effective and successful classroom practice to engage students with a diverse range of needs.

A demonstrated ability to use data to inform practice in the classroom.

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with experience working as an effective team member.
