BANKRUPTCY LAW SECTION

BOARD OF GOVERNORS MEETING

November 19. 2008

Chairman Bob Copelandcalled the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. In attendance with him were Roy Terry, Malissa Giles, Doug Little, David Greer, Ce’AnneWeschler, Doug Foley, Brian Kenney, Steve Ramsdell, Jim Schroll, Tyler Brown, and Ric Scott

I. Approval of October 2008 minutes were deferred.

II. Law News: Ric Scott hopes to have the Fall 2008 issue to publisher by November 18, 2008. The next issue will be the Winter 2009 issue which is tentatively scheduled to be published in January 2009. He required articles for use in the January publication.

III. Project Reports:

A. Website: It was announced the state bar will be able to “push” e-mails out to section members.

B. Public Seminars: No present report.

C. Bankruptcy Brochure: This matter was reported has having been completed.

D. June 2009 CLE: Roy Terry reported that the Section will team up with the VSB Real Estate Section to present the Summer program. Plans are underway to create a program that will have a broad appeal given the current intersection of real estate and bankruptcy in the economy.

E. Proof of Claim Seminar: There was nothing new to report for this section.

F. Mid-Atlantic Seminar: It was reported that all attendees seem to enjoy the program and reaction to the breakout sessions of consumer and business was very favorable. The group concurred that the seminar should try to expand on this format next year.

G. Nuts and Bolts Seminar: Roy Terry reported on the outline for the program and announced that VA CLE was looking at discounting attendance for non-attorney attendees from law offices. He also noted the program has added a segment for the Clerk of the Eastern District Court and the Western District Court. It was reported the seminars will be held live in Roanoke on March 5,2 009 and in Richmond on March 6, 2009.

H. Mid-Winter Meeting: After discussing various dates, the group concluded that the mid-winter meeting will be February 7, 2009 in Charlottesville, VA.

I. LongRange Planning: Malissa Giles reported that nothing to date has been done on getting this committee going, but she will put together the participants on a conference all in the short future.

IV. Other Business:

Virginia State Bar Monthly Addition News: Bob Copelandcontinues to coordinate, our Section being featured in an upcoming edition. Ce’Anne Weschler, Doug Foley, Doug Little and Jason Gold from the Board are contributing and Kelly Barnhardt has been recruited to help with an article.

V. Next Meeting: The next meeting will take place on the phone on the 17th of December, 2008.

VIII. Meeting was adjourned on or about 6:15 p.m.
