Dear Resident
This letter is to invite you to take up membership of your Residents’ Association. Increasing our membership will give us a greater voice in tackling local problems. Nearly half the households in our district are Members.
The Committee monitor all local issues such as verge cutting; road and traffic problems; major planning applications; town centre and shopping facilities; health and safety etc. It is also in constant contact with our three councils (Town, New Forest and County) reminding them of their commitment to this area and its residents. There are five/six public meetings a year, held on Tuesdays (evenings in the Summer and afternoons in the Winter), to which we invite a speaker, (plus an AGM). Past speakers have been representatives from:- Local Authorities; GPs, the Police; Ambulance Service; CAB; Community Care Associations, the Air Ambulance and other organisations.
Membership of the Association is £3.00 per household per year (April – March). This entitles you to inform the Committee of any local concerns you may have; attend our General Meetings and receive a copy of the monthly newsletter, “FOCUS”, which is produced and delivered, to your door, entirely by volunteers. The newsletter not only brings members up to date on local issues and concerns; it also contains a police report, traders’ adverts and articles from people within the district; a little lighter reading and an opportunity to air your views. Articles are submitted by members and contact organisations and the Editor will be pleased to receive contributions from all age groups - comments, stories, activities, etc. ‘FOCUS’ also includes a, ‘For Your Diary’ section where events being held in the area may be publicised.
If you would like to join the Association and receive the monthly magazine FOCUS, we would prefer you to pay by Bankers Order (Standing Order). This means that you do not have to worry about renewing each year. It is done automatically; even if you are on holiday at the time and also, our volunteer distributor does not have to call (maybe several times if you are not in) to collect and carry the cash. The amount cannot change without your authorisation. In addition, it saves us administration costs.
If you would prefer, please send a cheque for £3.00, made payable to NMRA, to the Membership Coordinator, which will cover your Membership until 31st March 2019.
