Bank of North Georgia Partners with Action Ministries for the

fourth year for their Feed the Hungry Campaign

ATLANTA, Sept. 14, 2016 – Bank of North Georgia, a division of Synovus Bank, is working with Action Ministries for a fourth consecutive year in support of the nonprofit’s Feed the Hungry Food Box program. Now through October 31, 2016, customers and supporters can visit any of the 40 Bank of North Georgia locations and donate $5 for a food box to help feed a family for up to five days.

Last year, friends and customers of Bank of North Georgia exceeded the annual goal of $45,000 by raising more than $62,000 to sponsor 12,400 food boxes, providing nearly 250,000 meals to hungry families across North Georgia. The goal this year is to again meet or exceed the annual goal to continue sponsoring food boxes and providing meals to families in need. The four-year total raised by bank customers and friends totals $136,000, sponsoring 27,200 boxes and providing 544,000 meals.

At each of the 40 Bank of North Georgia branches (www.bankofnorthgeorgia.com), associates will help customers learn about the program, and how each $5 donation helps Action Ministries pack a food box containing staples and nonperishables, providing several days’ worth of meals.

“At Bank of North Georgia, we don’t just work in the communities we serve, we strive to be active participants. Through our Here Matters program, our goal is to lead and strengthen our communities to serve the needs of those who need it most., ” said Rob Garcia, president and chief executive officer, of Bank of North Georgia. “With nearly 20 percent of Georgians living in hunger-threatened households, we are again partnering with Action Ministries to support its Feed the Hungry food box initiative. We live here. We raise our children here. And we work hard to make our communities better. We encourage our team members to be hands-on with the organizations that they support.”

“We chose Action Ministries because they are a 53-year-old, well-respected nonprofit with an excellent track record of success,” continued Garcia. “Last year alone, they served nearly 100,000 individuals in need across North Georgia, but the need is much greater this year. Action Ministries’ service footprint mimics ours perfectly, so it’s a great fit.”

“Action Ministries appreciates the support of Bank of North Georgia and its customers because Georgia has the sixth ninth highest poverty rate in the country, and the need for our services continues to grow at a rapid pace,” said John R. Moeller, Jr., president & CEO, Action Ministries. “By meeting the basic needs of hunger relief, housing and education, Action Ministries removes barriers that prevent thousands of Georgians from breaking the cycle of poverty and realizing their potential.”

Supporters do not have to be a Bank of North Georgia or Synovus customer to participate. Anyone can give by visiting a Bank of North Georgia branch or by donating online at www.actionministries.net/donate or www.bankofnorthgeorgia.com or Text FOODBOX to 80888.
