Introduction
A Non Communicable Disease(NCD) is one that is not infectious. You can't catch it from another person. It is caused by genetics or lifestyle choices. No matter how much you wash your hands or cough into your elbow, you can't prevent non communicable diseases like hypertension, Diabetes or asthma.Exercise every day. Physical activity removes disease-causing toxins through sweat. It also prevents cardiovascular disease, respiratory problems and reduces the risk of cancer (
Non-communicable diseases are generally a result of lifestyle factors such as a person's background, diet, physical activity/inactivity, environment, tobacco use, alcohol consumption.
Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) are becoming increasingly common worldwide because of increasing longevity and high prevalence of contributing factors such as tobacco use, obesity, physical inactivity and unhealthy diets.
Non Communicable Diseases are by far the leading cause of death in the world, representing 63% of all annual deaths. NCDs kill more than 36 million people each year. Some 80% of all NCD deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries.
Although NCDs has been considered as a problem of the affluent, counter to the myth is, some 80% of this burden is borne by low to middle income countries like Bangladesh. Even more worrying is the dangerous lack of awareness of this threat of NCDs to global health.
Bangladesh Red Crescent society (BDRCS) is implementing a prevention of NCDs project in 36 MCH centers out of56 Mother and Child Health Care Centers (MCH) funded by Taiwan Red Cross (TRC).
Basic training was conducted on Diabetes and hypertension from 1st -3rd July 2013 total 3days. Training has been given 15 participants (3 from each centers) from Kazlakati, Karnakati, Dhaloher, Bankerhat and Bagdah.
