Committee Reports:

  • 4/5 Fun Night – Event was led by Jen Williams and Melanie Wees. Thank you to the janitorial staff, office staff, and Mrs. Wichmann for their help in making it a success. Shout-out to committee volunteers Michelle Ackerman, Rachelle Bernard, and Anne Wright for taking charge in ordering donuts, decorations, sending out Sign-up Genius, making flyers and helping decorate and supervise. Also thank you to all the volunteers who helped supervise and decorate. The theme was “Let’s Glow.” They planned for 150, about 100 showed up. Students wore white t-shirts that were signed by their peers, music was provided by a DJ, free glow sticks were handed out to students, face painting, basketball, Twister, graffiti wall, photo booth, and dance contests were available to keep the students entertained. Hy-Vee generously donated 15 dozen donuts that the kids were able to enjoy and parents donated water.
  • 2/3 Science Night – Went well. Thank you to Mr. Dorow and Mr. Pearson for staying the whole night. About 130 people there. Theme was weather and the KAAL weather team came and did a presentation that was great. The activities went off well. Made the decision early on to have it inside, which helped it go smoothly.
  • Yearbook–They are in the office and will be distributed on Friday morning. Thank you to Pam for helping with orders and CamiEnke for helping with pictures.
  • Carnival–The silent auction site is going live on Friday, May 11. Big thing need to figure out is volunteers. Reached out to Mayo Key Club and National Honor Society. Need to know how many people are volunteering because it determines the number of games. Will send out another skyward and maybe encourage teachers to send on Class Dojo.
  • Track and Field Day Sign-up– Still need lots of volunteers.
  • Garden–A girl scout troop worked on the garden in front and it looks great.
  • Book Fair – One of largest spring ones. All teachers are doing scholastic magazine next year, except two kindergarten teachers who are going to use the scholastic dollars to get books at book fair.
  • School wide shirt–Looking at 120-140 new kinders and usually as many as 100 new and transfer students per year. So 213 children’s t-shirts and 18 new adults shirts for stuff. Based on those numbers come to $1,135 for shirts. More expensive per shirt because not as large a quantity. If want to continue alternate years, might want to order extra the school wide year to get a better price per shirt. If there are extras at the end, might be able to sell some of them for profit.
  • Spiritwear–New person who is starting is going to keep the design for now and maybe have membership vote on changing it in the future. She is planning to do order forms so don’t have extra stock.
  • Boxtops – Next collection date on May 25. Next year there will be a grand prize at the end of the year of a night at air insanity for the K-1 and 2-5 classes that have the most boxtops for the year.
  • Zoo – Tammy Dahl did an amazing job helping get the 3rd grade zoo field trip started.
