Common Core Math

Syllabus

1. Homework

•  Will be assigned about 3 or 4 times a week

•  Will be corrected by yourself in class the next day or the day after that (corrected with a red or green pen)

•  Will be accepted late within 2 days if you have an excused absence.

2. Quizzes

•  Will be given weekly to assess student’s understanding of the material being covered

•  Will be made up at lunch

•  Will be worth about 10 points

3. Tests

•  Will be given at the end of every unit/partial unit

•  Will be made up upon return from absence

•  Will be worth approximately 30 - 45 points (depending on material covered)

4. Miscellaneous

•  All work turned in will be in PENCIL

•  It should be on loose-leaf paper, it will have the student’s name, date, and period in the upper right corner and assignment title above the first line

•  No torn or spiral paper will be accepted, spiral paper shouldn’t be torn out in class

•  No Work = No Credit

•  It is the student’s responsibility to get any missed work from a classmate or from the whiteboard.

•  Students should keep notes and warm-ups in one notebook designated just for math. Classwork and homework should be corrected with a red or green pen.

•  Extra help is available at lunch Tues., Wed. and Thurs. or after school Mon. & Wed.

•  Materials required daily are underlined, plus a covered pencil sharpener or extra lead, highlighter, and textbook(workbook)

5. Grading

•  CW is worth 25% and HW is worth 15%

•  Tests/Quizzes are worth 60%

•  90 – 100% = A

•  78 – 89% = B

•  68 – 77% = C

•  54 – 67% = D

•  53% & below = F

•  0 – 2 missing assign. = E in WH if the student has an “A” or “B”

•  3 - 5 missing assign. = S in WH if the student has at least a “D”

•  6 + missing assign. or grade of F = U in WH

CO reflects classroom behavior, participation, & tardiness. If the student cheats on a quiz/test, a score of zero and a “U” will be given. To remove the zero and “U”, a new version of the quiz/test must be taken and 10 lunch periods of peer tutoring must be served. A “U” will be given if the student is caught chewing gum, 3 lunch periods of paper-pick-up will remove it by the next grading period. A “U” will be given to students who are sent to the Dean or do not complete the paper-pick-up assigned to them.
