Fitzsimons

Congratulations to all our award winners who were acknowledged at Presentation Day yesterday. I would also like to congratulate all those students who did not get an award but have improved in their learning and achieved personal goals this year – it is always hard for teachers to decide when they have limited numbers of awards.

Classes for 2014

We have started organisation for 2014. We have made up class lists, but due to the uncertainty of new enrolments and to avoid class reorganisation the children will return to school and be placed into 2013 classes. This will enable us to enrol new students and work through their placements without upsetting our current enrolment if classes need to be changed.

Back to School - 2014

Classes recommence on Wednesday, 29th January 2014 for students in Years 1 to 6. Kindergarten students start on Monday, 3rd February, 2014.

Farewell to Year 6

We will be holding our official farewell for our Year 6 students on Tuesday night and will be saying goodbye on Wednesday as they each make their way under the arch made by the rest of the school students. Many of our Year 6 students have been here since Kindergarten so the teachers have seen them develop from timid five year olds to young teenagers. We trust that they will enjoy their new life as high school students and that they will give their best at all times.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone in our school community for their support throughout 2013. It has been an extremely rewarding experience for myself and so many of our students and staff. We look forward to 2014 as another exciting year where we see the further development of all our students.

As this is the last newsletter for the year, I would like to wish each and every one of you a safe and happy Christmas and best wishes for a prosperous new year.

I look forward to working with you all again next year.

School Uniform

As you make preparation and purchases of school uniforms for 2014 please consider our school uniform policy. While the number of students wearing school uniform remains high there are brand names creeping in, especially CCC (Canterbury Clothing Company) shorts. One of the purposes of a school uniform is that it is uniform across all students and there is not a culture of competition about brand names. Plain blue shorts are all that is required.

While there is no stipulation in our uniform policy for shoes it is acceptable for runners / joggers to be worn as the children do a lot of sport and fitness. Can you please purchase black or white joggers and refrain from purchasing pink or lime green.

If students are representing our school at another venue full school uniform is expected to be worn.

Also a reminder that jewellery is not to be worn to school due to safety reasons and also the chances of it being lost at school, we have had a number of incidences this year.

Abel Schoolwear has a full range of our school uniforms. They can be found at 44 Peachtree Road, Penrith. Phone number is 47312059
