Henry News – September 18, 2006

Fain Geiger attended the Clear Lake volleyball game in Watertown on Monday and enjoyed watching Tierra Rhody play ball.

Donna Kittelson attended the volleyball game between Clark and Florence/ Henry on Tuesday evening.

Pat and Irene Redmond attended the Swedeen potluck Monday evening at the Community Center.

Wendell and Alice Bruns visited Violet Winemiller at Wookey’s Assistant Living in Clark on Thursday. Wendell also visited her on Saturday.

Dorothy Paulsen was a Tuesday afternoon visitor of Lois Schoepp.

The Henry Methodist Women met at the church on Wednesday evening and made preparations for the annual Country Fair. Susan Olson was a guest of the ladies. Bonita Sharp was the hostess. The next meeting will be October 18th at the home of Roma Rawlins in Clark.

Kelby, Toni and Hayley Goodall and Fain and Roxanne Geiger had supper with Laura Kennedy in Watertown on Saturday evening.

Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended the Maurice Gjerde funeral Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Wendell and Alice Bruns drove to Lake Preston on Friday and brought Erin Bruns home with them for the weekend. Erin’s dad, Ashley Bruns of Lake Norden also spent the weekend with the Wendell Bruns.

Pat and Irene Redmond attended the Polka Fest Sunday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell. In the evening they were supper guests of Dave and Carissa Quale in Volga.

On Sunday, at the Henry Community Center several family members and relatives enjoyed a dinner preceding the open house for Mike and Muriel Larson in observance of their 60th wedding anniversary. Later several relatives gathered for supper at the Mike Larson home.

Lois Schoepp was among those that attended the open house bridal shower for Ashley Schaack on Saturday at St. Henry’s Catholic Church.

Floyd and Donna Kittelson watched their grandson, Jordan Burchatz play football Friday evening in the Watertown Arrow and Aberdeen Central game.

Ken Luvaas drove to Pierre on Saturday and participated in the Vietnam Veteran Memorial dedication. Ken served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was joined in Pierre by Mark, Jessica and Madelynn Luvaas of Lennox. The whole day was one to be remembered. Ken visited with many friends as well as South Dakota Governor Rounds and members of the congressional delegation. Ken stated that it was an awesome experience when nearly 40,000 people joined hands and recited the Lord’s Prayer. They all returned to their homes on Sunday.

Fain and Roxanne Geiger, Kelby and Toni Goodall and Hayley Goodall went to Clear Lake Sunday to visit and have dinner with Earl, Alyssa and Tierra Goodall.

Dorinda, Kimberly and Teresa Heustess accompanied Art Heustess on a trip to California. After visiting with friends and relatives, Dorinda and Teresa returned to their Henry home. Kimberly remained for a longer visit.

Joan Warnock and Cecelia Brownell spent Sunday afternoon at the Doris Coyle home.

Floyd and Donna Kittelson attended Jordan Burchatz’ confirmation mass on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown. Later they were lunch guests at Rick and Vicky Burchatz’ home.

A large crowd attended the annual Country Fair at the Henry United Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon. The St. Francis Choir of Watertown provided the afternoon entertainment followed by a bake sale and lunch.

Calvin and Lois Schoepp and Doug Schoepp were among the Sunday dinner guests at the Steph Raasch home and also helped Harlee Mitchell celebrate her 7th birthday.

Mike and Cheryl Hovde of rural Vienna hosted a birthday dinner for their daughter, Savanna on Sunday. Floyd and Donna Kittelson were among the guests.

Joe, Nicole and Karli Sharp were Sunday evening supper guests at the Danny and Bonita Sharp home.

A going away morning coffee was held Tuesday for Doris Coyle. After spending nearly her entire life in Henry, Doris is moving on Saturday to the Sunchase Apartments, apartment #112, in Watertown. Doris has sold her Henry home to James and Jessica Langdeaux. Without a doubt, Doris will be sorely missed in Henry.
