1. On Tomb Sweeping Day, what do many families do at their ancestors’ tombs?

After they clean the tomb, they leave cakes, incense and paper money. They place the paper money under stones all over the tomb to symbolize the repairing of their ancestors’ home.

2. What are some things that keep you safe while go-karting?In general, go-karts are safe. When go-karting, one must wear a seatbelt and a helmet. Also, the track has tires around the sides in case you get into a collision. In addition, there are instructors to show you what to do.

3. What are doughnuts and how do they taste?Doughnuts are like cake circles, shaped like a ring. They are made of rich, light dough and are deep-fried in oil. They are very sweet. Some have cream inside or flavored icing glazed over them.

4. If you are having trouble in a subject in school, what can you do to improve your situation?

You would talk to your teacher and ask for advice. You would also take some time from a subject I excel in and spend time studying for the subject that you’re not doing very well in.

5. How does NASA plan to blow up a comet?First, they will send a probe to the comet. The probe will tell scientists many things about the comet, like where the comet is exactly and how big it is. After that, they will shoot a huge piece of copper at the comet.

6. According to family tradition, how do many people in Taiwan spend Tomb Sweeping Day? This day is spent with the family. It is a day to honor our ancestors, so the day is spent cleaning or “sweeping” graves of our loved ones. We burn paper money and incense and even leave cakes or other treats on the grave. In addition, we leave money under stones all over the tomb. This is a symbol of repairing the ancestors’ homes. And, if the weather is nice, we usually fly kites and spend the afternoon outside.

7. You want to go go-karting but your friend is nervous. Convince your friend to go with you.

Go-karting is really fun! Go-karts are not real cars; they are much smaller, and slower. Even if you crash, there are tires around the sides so that you won’t get hurt. And, you have to wear a seatbelt and a helmet. But, if you’re still nervous, we can talk to the instructors and they’ll be able to tell us the most exciting and safest way to race around the track.

8. Your friend has never had a doughnut. Tell your friend why doughnuts are loved so much.

The best time to eat a doughnut is right out of the oven. Then, it is soft, fresh and warm. Doughnuts please many different tastes because there are many different kinds to choose from. Some have cream inside, flavored icing on top and there are even chocolate doughnuts. Don’t worry about calorie-counting! Delicious doughnuts are the best snack!

9. Tell your friend some ways to cope with failure in school.First, realize that it’s OK to have weaknesses. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Next, if you are having trouble in a class, maybe you should talk to the teacher about it. You and your teacher would then be able to work together. You could also take time from studying a subject you excel in and devote that time to bringing up your grade. After that, set some realistic goals for yourself—hopefully you will see results soon!

10. Talk about the new Yang Ming Oceanic Culture and Art Museum in Keelung. There are many cool things to do and see at the museum! There’s a steamship history museum, a family playground, and a 3D movie theater. There is also an interactive game zone with a virtual seaport. And, if you’re into music, you can check out the concert hall. Don’t forget the bookstore and coffee shop where you can relax after a long day of exploring the ocean.
