A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE WILSON HALL SENIOR CLAIRE ESTEP OF SUMTER UPON RECEIVING AN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP WITH HER RECENT ACCEPTANCE TO THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA AND TO SALUTE HER ON EARNING A COVETED NOMINATION TO WEST POINT FROM SENATOR TIM SCOTT OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is delighted to learn that Wilson Hall senior Claire Estep of Sumter has been awarded an academic scholarship with her recent acceptance to the University of Alabama, as well as a coveted nomination to West Point from Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina; and
Whereas, for the past year, Claire has been applying to colleges, maintaining a high grade point average at Wilson Hall, running track, and dancing, while enduring a rigorous admissions process for the United States Military Academy West Point; and
Whereas, dance has been Claire’s passion for the past eight years, and she practices and participates in productions in the Sumter area. The vivacious teen, who is involved in every style of dancing from tap to ballet, is pleased that the University of Alabama has a reputable dance program. She will be auditioning for entry to that program on February 21, 2014; and
Whereas, a West Point experience is just as enticing to her as a college dance program and would allow her to follow in the footsteps of both her grandfathers, who were military men; and
Whereas, supported by friends, family, and educators, Claire ultimately trusts her future to God’s control; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is proud of Claire’s fine achievements, and the members wish her much success and happiness as she makes important life decisions in the months ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Wilson Hall senior Claire Estep of Sumter upon receiving an academic scholarship with her recent acceptance to the University of Alabama and salute her on earning a coveted nomination to West Point from Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Claire Estep.
