TheOregonHeritage PreservationScholarship provides financialassistance forOregonresidents to attend apreservation-relatedconference,workshop,ortraining intheUnitedStatesbetweenJuly
1,2015andJune30,2016. Eligibletravelexpensesincluderegistrationfees, transportation(e.g.
airfare,personalvehiclemileage,etc.),lodging,andmeals. Awardsusually rangefrom $500-
$1,500,depending onapplicant eligibility,priorities,criteriaandthenumber ofapplicants.
Scholarshipsarecompetitiveandoffered twiceperyear.Scholarships willbeoffered tothose activelyinvolved inlocalpreservationeffortsandwhodemonstratehowattendanceata preservation-relatedconference,workshop,ortraining willhelpmeet thepreservationneedsof their localcommunity.Scholarshiprecipients willbeexpected tosharewhatthey learnfromthe conference,workshop,ortrainingwithothers throughapostontheOregonHeritage Exchange blog,apublicpresentation,orsomeother wayapproved byOregonHeritage.
Thescholarship isoffered byOregonHeritage,partoftheOregonParksandRecreation Department,inhonorofElisabeth WaltonPotter. Potterwasalong-timehistorianwith theState Historic PreservationOfficeandcoordinatorfortheNationalRegisterofHistoric Placesprogramin Oregon.

Priority willbegiventoapplicants whohavenotreceivedthescholarship before.
Applications willbejudged on:
Thedegreeofmatch betweentheconference,workshop,ortraining proposedandthelocal preservationneedidentified.
Anexplanationofhowpersonalattendanceatapreservation-relatedconference,workshop,
ortrainingwillhelpmeet thepreservationneedsoftheapplicant's localcommunity.
Scholarship reporting andpayment:
Recipientswillbethesubjectsofbinding agreementsbetweentheStateandtherecipient. Typically,scholarship fundsaredispersed onareimbursablebasis.Detailsofpayment arrangementsandreportingwillbeprovided atthetimeoftheaward.
