Awards Descriptions

Community Servant Award: The Panhellenic Council Community Servant Award will be presented to the individual who has shown outstanding service, outreach and support throughout the surrounding community. Elect one person from your chapter. That individual is responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting their application.

Comradery Award: The Multicultural Greek Council Comradery Award recognizes an organization outside of the council who has made strides to bridge the gap between the different councils and promote Greek Unity at Wichita State University. Interested organizations are responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting their application.

Craig Barton Outstanding Sophomore: The Craig Barton Outstanding Greek Sophomore Award was established in honor of WSU Greek Alumnus, Craig Barton, who has graciously endowed this award. Elect one sophomore member who will be responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting their application. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, completed at least 30 credit hours by the Spring 2014 semester and must be serving in their second year in the chapter. Applicants must be available for an interview on Tuesday, February 3, between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm.

Dottie C. Miller Award: This award will be presented to a person who has shown outstanding support to the Greek community at Wichita State University. Elect one individual from the community who you feel supports the Greek community. This person can work for the University but they cannot be a member of the Student Involvement staff. They do not have to be Greek and must simply be someone who is currently supporting the community. Your chapter is responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting this application. If your nominee is selected, we will let you know in advance so you can ensure their attendance at the program.

Dr. Sam Cohlmia Greek Man & Woman Award: The Outstanding Greek Man and Greek Woman Awards have been revised and enhanced through a generous donation by WSU Greek Alumnus Dr. Sam Cohlmia. Elect one member who has been an outstanding Greek member and who will be responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting their application. Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least 60 credit hours by the end of the Spring 2014 semester. Applicants must be available for an interview on Tuesday, February 3, between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm.


Gamma Phi Beta Greek Unity Award: The Greek Unity Award was developed by the women of Gamma Phi Beta in an attempt to heighten the amount of support shown for chapters on the Wichita State University campus by the efforts of individuals in the Greek Community. Each chapter needs to nominate 3 men and 3 women for this award. The nominees cannot be a member of your chapter or a member of Gamma Phi Beta. This is the only form with a deadline other than January 28; please turn it in to Student Involvement no later than December 1st so nominees will have plenty of time to complete their application.

Outstanding New Member: This award will be presented to an outstanding fraternity new member and an outstanding sorority new member each year. Elect one new member from your chapter who will be responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting their application.

Outstanding Advisor Award: This award is designed to recognize a Fraternity or Sorority’s chapter/alumni/ advisor for distinguished service to and sacrifice for his/her chapter. Elect a member of your advisory team to nominate for this award. The chapter is responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting the application required for the award. If your advisor is selected, we will let you know in advance so you can ensure their attendance at the program.

PC Outstanding Fraternity Award: Each IFC and MGC Fraternity may apply for this award. Your chapter is responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting this application. The application consists of a fact sheet and a presentation. Presentation guidelines can be found in the application packet. A presentation will be required to complete the application process. Applicants must be available for an interview on Tuesday, February 3, between 8:30 am and 11:30 am.

Sigma Phi Epsilon Outstanding Sorority Award: Each PC and MGC Sorority may apply for this. Your chapter is responsible for going online, viewing, completing and submitting this application. The application consists of a fact sheet and a presentation. Presentation guidelines can be found in the application packet. A presentation will be required to complete the application process. Applicants must be available for an interview on Tuesday, February 3, between 8:30 am and 11:30 am.

Rhatigan Standards for Fraternal Excellence: Each chapter president must schedule an end of the year review meeting with their appropriate council advisor within Fraternity and Sorority Life. This meeting must be held between December 1st 2014 and January 31st, 2015. Chapter presidents should come prepared to the end of year review meeting with the completed application and all supporting documents; the boxes for SI verification should still be blank at this time. Necessary supporting documents are noted in the verification section for each section on the application. All chapters are eligible for this award and there is no limit on the number of chapters it may be awarded to.

Intramural and Scholarship Awards are based off of point systems and academic standings. There are no applications for these awards. The Intramural awards will be determined solely from the Heskett Center Intramural Office point system. The Scholarship awards will be determined solely from the grade reports.

·  All awards must be submitted electronically to . Hard copy applications will not be accepted without prior permission.

·  Letters of Recommendation may be submitted electronically or in hard copy form to Meg Junk in Student Involvement, RSC 216.

·  Applications submitted after 5:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, will not be accepted. Please make sure you receive a confirmation email following the submission of your award. If you do not receive an email, re-submit or do a follow-up with Meg Junk at 316.978.3022, do not assume your application has been received. Email errors will not allow for an application to be accepted late.
