Answer: Customers with PC-based Avid Xpress Pro v4.x can purchase the new Avid Xpress Pro HD v5.0 software directly from the Avid online store. With Avid Xpress Pro HD, customers can take advantage of new features like native DVCPRO HD, real-time multicamera editing, Marquee 3D title tool, 10-bit processing, better film and 24p features and more.
The upgrade is a software download only for $49.95 (USMSRP) and is for registered PC-based Avid Xpress Pro v4.x customers for a limited time.

Please note: Customers who wish to use Avid Marquee need an OpenGL card installed. Avid recommends the NVIDIA Quadro®4 980 XGL or Nvidia Quadro® FX 1100 with driver version 61.82. Question: I currently own Avid Xpress Pro v4.6 (Mac) and would like to upgrade to Avid Xpress Pro HD v5.0. Is this upgrade available?
Answer: Avid Xpress Pro HD for the Macintosh is planned for delivery in 2005. Until then, we encourage you to use the current version of Avid Xpress Pro knowing that your product will be upgradable to HD in the near future. The PC and Mac versions of Avid Xpress Pro HD are on different development schedules based on a range of factors that contribute to the timing in which products come to market. Although we are bringing the PC version of Avid Xpress Pro HD to market first with the release of Avid Xpress Pro HD v5.0, we are currently planning to deliver a Mac version of Avid Xpress Pro HD.

Answer: The Avid Xpress Pro v4.x to Avid Xpress Pro HD v5.0 upgrade can be purchased directly on the Avid Store. All customers should go to www.avid.com, select the worldwide site of choice, and then select online store.
The Avid Xpress Pro HD v5.0 software can be purchased either from an authorized reseller in your area or at avid.com.
Question: I recently purchased the Avid Xpress Pro HD upgrade. The previous version worked on my unqualified CPU but the new version does not work. Will Avid fix the issue or can I return the software?
Answer: Avid provides a complete list of system specifications for all Avid products. Customers should always review the system specifications for each product prior to purchasing Avid Xpress Pro HD or any of the Avid Xpress Pro upgrades.
If a customer is running an older version of Avid Xpress Pro on an unsupported or unqualified machine, that does not mean the new Avid editor application will work on that unsupported machine. We update our specifications with each new release and document any changes from release to release. The products listed on our system requirements pages are ones that have passed our thorough tests, ensuring product compatibility.

Question: I am currently using Avid Xpress Pro v4.6 with Avid Mojo. How does Avid Mojo work with Avid Xpress Pro HD?
Answer: The Avid Mojo connects to your computer with an IEEE-1394 connection and delivers gen-locked analog and digital video I/O, complete with real-time digital cut to DV tape. When working with high definition formats within Avid Xpress Pro HD, Avid Mojo provides a means for monitoring HD video on an SD monitor. In Avid Xpress Pro HD, customers simply switch the project resolution to SD. The Avid timeline handles the rest. There are many instances where monitoring HD footage on an SD monitor is critical. Many Avid Xpress Pro editors are acquiring HD footage for distribution via SD DVD. There are also many instances where editors need to use SD and HD footage on the same timeline. This is one of Avid's key advantages. Avid Mojo extends that benefit by enabling a full HD production process without requiring editors to change their entire facility for HD at once. With Avid Xpress Pro HD and Avid Mojo, you can keep using the SD monitors and connections that already exist.

Question: I own Avid Xpress Studio and would like to upgrade the Avid Xpress Pro application to Avid Xpress Pro HD. Will Avid Xpress Pro HD work with the rest of the Avid Studio applications?
Answer: Not at this time. Avid Xpress Studio is a single, integrated suite; with HD support coming soon. Customers with Avid Xpress Studio will be notified of a new HD version when we get closer to release. Please note that current Avid Xpress Studio customers who upgrade their Avid Xpress Pro software to Avid Xpress Pro HD will lose interoperability with the other Avid Xpress Studio components. Avid recommends that customers wait until the availability of the Avid Xpress Studio HD release later this year.
Question: I recently purchased Avid Xpress Pro HD and would like to use this application with Pro Tools. What version of Pro Tools can I use and can both products co-exist on the same system?
Answer: Currently, Avid Xpress Pro HD v5.0 does not work in conjunction with Pro Tools. You can use Pro Tools on an Avid Xpress Pro HD system but can not have the applications working at the same time.
The Pro Tools application can be disabled in order to use the Avid Xpress Pro editor functions. To do so, hold down the shift key at the start up and Avid Xpress Pro will bypass Digi Core Audio, enabling Avid Xpress Pro to launch without a problem.

Question: I purchased the Avid Xpress Pro HD upgrade from Avid.com and received my confirmation email. What is the product key located on the confirmation used for?
Answer: Before using your Avid Xpress Pro HD editing software, you must update your application key (dongle). To do so, you will need the product key located on the confirmation email and a new updater file from Avid’s web page.
Go to the Avid upgrade page and follow the online instructions to upgrade your product and obtain your dongle updater file. You will need to supply your Avid Xpress Pro system ID, serial number, and product upgrade key. You will then be able to download a dongle updater file (DBHelper.exf).
1. Place the dongle updater data file (DBHelper.exf) in the following folder: C:\Program Files\Avid\Utilities\DongleUpdater
2. Run the following updater program. Program Files\Avid\Utilities\DongleUpdater\DongleUpdater.exe
3. Once you complete the upgrade process, you can only use your dongle with your Avid Xpress Pro HD system. You will not be able to use your dongle with your previous Avid Xpress DV or Avid Xpress Pro system.
