DANA HAWMAN, DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION & PUBLIC RELATIONS

CONSTRUCTION

Satellite Bus Barn

§  Metal roof and wall panels completed

§  Frame walls on 1st floor office area completed; floor joists for mezzanine are set

§  Dry wall is in progress

§  SRP transformer set; primary wiring to transformer installed

§  Electrical, plumbing and HVAC work continuing

§  Asphalt paving and striping completed

§  Bollards are installed

§  Final walkthrough of bus barn scheduled for 1/27/12

Sunland Asphalt missed one week of work due to rain, followed by remediation of the wet subgrade, but still managed to complete the parking area on schedule. Installation of the fuel tank is pending delivery.

District Office HVAC

§  Return air vent has been added to increase air flow in room 103A (mock classroom)

§  Most of the attic vents have been closed off to control downdrafts in the office wings

§  Final air balancing is pending

Poston Butte HVAC and Drainage

§  The District has not yet received the results from the 3rd party engineers hired by Durrant’s legal representative to assess problems at PBHS; an update has been requested

§  A two-year warranty walk through has been scheduled with Sundt; we have contacted Durrant requesting participation, but have received no response

Special Projects

Anti-Bully Posters

§  Designed, printed and distributed anti-bully posters with the winning slogans for each school

§  Each K-8 school received 12 posters with the winning slogan from their school, plus one multi-school poster that has all 9 designs

§  Each high school received 24 posters with the winning slogan from their school, plus one multi-school poster

§  SuMMit, STEP and the District Office each received one multi-poster

AZ School Tax Credit Campaign

§  Worked closely with Ronda Brown and Beverly Myers to create accurate and consistent messaging that hit key points: 1)”Let Arizona Pay You Back!” 2) “Now Accepting Credit Cards!” and 3) “Contribute by Dec. 31 for Credit on Your 2011 AZ Taxes!” Campaign included:

§  Mailer Brochure and letter sent via regular mail to all District families

§  Series of three Connect-ed messages leading up to the final deadline

§  Facebook posts mirroring the Connect-ed messages

§  New website banners on all District and school home pages

§  Online link to FUSD credit card payment website

§  Article about “Pay-to-Participate” and AZ School Tax Credits featured on home page of the District website

§  Article about “Pay-to-Participate” and AZ School Tax Credits sent to FUSD Mail List

§  AZ School Tax Credit information included in all press releases about “Pay-to-Participate”

§  Kandi Martinez who cheerfully and efficiently labeled more than 6,200 envelopes for the mailers and letters!

§  Everyone in the business and human resources departments who teamed up to stuff those 6,200+ mailers and letters in the course of one morning!

§  The warehouse staff that processed 6,200+ envelopes and had them all to the post office before the end of that same day!
