Audition sides for “Tick”
SETUP: Ty and Joon are on the phone with one another. Ty is in an old motel room with his dead wife that he is assumed to have killed. After speaking with Joon for a moment he becomes frustrated. Scene begins…
Joon
Ty. Ty. Pull yourself together man. We only got about three minutes now. I understand you are having a tough time but we need to get going.
Sirens start to WAIL in the background. Ty stands up and rips the curtain closed. He then walks towards the pitch black bathroom. He pulls a zippo lighter out of his pocket and lights it. He opens the medicine cabinet and rummages around for the reciever. He finds it.
Ty
Got it.
Joon
Excellent. Now I need you to enter a very specific number in there. It'll buy you a little more time before the cops get here. You got a pen?
Ty looks to the clock. 3:36. He begins rifling through drawers desperate to find something to write on before.
Ty
Are you insane!? just tell me the number. I'm not going to write something for the whole world to see.
Joon
Why not? They already know who killed her. You've been in rehab for months and they know that you know that she thinks you're turning into your mother. Who else could it possibly be?
Ty comes to terms with the fact that he killed his wife for the first time and is horrified. He lowers the phone.
Joon
Do you want me to get you out of here or not?
Ty hesitantly turns around and rips some toilet paper off.
Ty
What's the number
Joon slowly gives Ty the number.
Joon
Seven...nine...five... eight...six.
Ty
Hurry up!
Joon
Hey, I know just as well as you what's going on in your gut right now, and unless you want to die in the next two minutes I'd suggest shutting up and listening.
Ty agrees.
Joon
So you got 79586...
Ty
Yes I got it.
Joon
Next number three.
A key attempts to unlock the door. Ty freezes. More rattling from the door but no luck. All is quiet for a few seconds then...
Joon
Five... Two...
BAM
A battering ram is thrust into the door.
Ty jumps to his feet and drops the phone.
Joon
Ty you there. Are you there?
BAM
Another thrust hits. Ty looks down at his wife then back to the door.
ENTER SLOW MOTION:
A battering ram is cocked back
EXIT SLOW MOTION
Ty notices that his gun in the blood speckled sheets. He quickly reaches for it and readies himself.
ENTER SLOW MOTION:
The battering ram is thrust towards the door.
Ty is ready to shoot
Ty (V.O.)
