ATTN: High School Science and Math Department Heads

SUBJECT: AFCEA ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHAPTER HIGH SCHOOL STEM GRANTS

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) awards grants to high schools for their STEM programs. The objective of our STEM Grant Program is to encourage high schools to advance their technology-related programs in areas of interest to AFCEA. The intention is to encourage students to pursue degrees in science, technology and mathematics. Schools are awarded grants to purchase:

  • Supplies and other science- or math-related materials
  • Hardware and/or software
  • Materials for upgrades to existing programs or to start new programs
  • Laboratories
  • Projects deemed appropriate to further excellence in STEM

The criteria for these grants are:

  • Be an accredited high school in El Paso county
  • Have STEM teachers identify an appropriate use of funds based on the areas listed above
  • Submit the attached application form with all seven areas fully completed and e-mailed or postmarked no later than 19April 2017
  • After award, provide documentation verifying the grant was used for the approved purposes

No grant request is too small to fund, but typically we award grants in the $1500-$3000 range. Our goal is to reward as many teachers as our funding will support.

I would appreciate your assistance in distributing this application to your STEM teachers. Grant awards are not limited to one per school, so please encourage all your STEM teachers to take advantage of this program. Awardees will be honored at a banquet on 19 May 2017. If you have questions, please contact me at (719) 377-1815 or email me at .

Sincerely,
