Summer is over and the holidays are fast approaching. By now you are well into Joshua Judges & Ruth in our quiz program. I am making plans for the 2016 Regional Competition Celebration. Qualifying for Regionals remains the same: 80% accuracy rate in scoring at District Finals for BOTH Red and Blue level for Regionals.
The Saturday schedule will be about the same as last year, with quizzers seated by 9:00 am, quizzing begins at 9:30 am. Once again we will have a short CBQ praise time in the afternoon while we are waiting for all the final scores to come in.
Friday night agenda will be about the same as before, with the coaches & scorekeepers meeting together at 7:00 pm in the back of the chapelor the band room……signs will be posted. District packets may be picked up by the director at 6:30 pm in lobby.
Competition Questions: Questions are written by Headquarters. Again, we can EXPECT some brand new questions in both red and blue levels.
I am still asking each director to write five brand new questions for our BLUE Level Challenge Round ….will need by March 31st. The Challenge Round extra memory verse requirement is JOHN 1:1-18 in addition to the required curriculum 20 versus. Hope I can count on each of you again this year. The Blue Challenge round was created primarily for blue level, as a means of holding blue level in while red level is dismissed to go to lunch. I will NOT be creating a Red level challenge round. If you have red quizzers who wish to participate in the Blue Challenge Round, please encourage them to move into the blue level category in their districts. PLEASE FIND A COPY OF THE BLUE Challenge Round Qualifying Sheet, for your convenience to share with your coaches.
Red and Blue level will enjoy powerpoint questions again this year, as well as being read. Questions will be repeated twice automatically. Again this year, there will be NO challenges for red or blue levels. We’ve had a great team of judges reviewing our questions the last few years, and I suspect that will continue.
I am enclosing a packet for your convenience. The Registration form is for you to get to your coaches at your ZONE competitions. Please make as many copies as you need. Coaches should give these to the quizzer’s parents at the Zone Finals. Parents are to attach their $30 ($35, if quizzers needs lunch) check to the completed form and turn in at your District Finals, IF THEIR QUIZZER QUALIFIES for Regionals. This should make your District Registration for Regionals simple. You, then as Director, take all qualified registration forms, compile the info onto the District Form with all info completed and write one check, made out to Darlene Thomas, ECR Director. I will NOT accept registration from individual parents…..one check from the Director only for your whole district.
Enclosed in this packet, you will also find lodging info, scorekeeping info/guideline for the ONE-POINT system. There is also a red and blue team lineup sheet, so that you can seat your teams and your individual red quizzers as you choose. This lineup sheet will be used to input your quizzer’s names into the computer, so please make sure you list them in the order you want them to be seated in. Don’t forget to list name of scorekeeper at the right.
And lastly, is the District Registration Form that you complete from the turned in registrations to you for those who qualify for regionals. Please list theirname, church AND district, their shirt size, and then the requested info for meals, extra shirts, for their families. Due to the MVNU school schedule change, there will BE NO CHILDCARE OFFERED as in the past. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS FORM HAS BEEN MUCH IMPROVED with many formulas with LOCKED cells. You need only to enter the info…..all costs will be completed automatically for you. Please only enter required data on the red and blue sheets. The totals page will compile automatically. This form has been saved in the 2003 format, so each of you should be able to access it easily. I need this form with one check from you to me by April 4, 2016, in order to get shirts on time and organize the competition.
PLEASE NOTE: The $30 Quizzer Registration fee DOES NOT INCLUDE the quizzers lunch this year. If quizzer needs a lunch, please include it in meal column on the form, along with any guests that may require a lunch. One added note: Directors and scorekeepers lunches will NOT be providedthis year, as in the past due to the overcrowding of the MVNU cafeteria. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR PARENTS AND COACHES ARE AWARE OF THIS. This should alleviate the overcrowding problem.
