FUNDRAISING EVENTS – Kim Little (chair)

Enrichment/Tutorial – Jackie Revels (chair), chair needed for Tutorial program

Jackie is the Director of this after-school program, which also is one of the largest fundraising activities for the school. She needs assistance in recruiting teachers, promoting the program to the students. We are in need of a coordinator to promote the tutorial program – especially to the Korean community.

Carnival – Laura Labelle (chair)

Many volunteers needed for coordinating sub-committees and to work event. (May)

Gift Wrap – Diana Friend (chair)

Assist with disseminating catalogs to classrooms and informational assembly. Collect order sheets and money for individual students. Process orders. Distribute orders. (Sept/Oct)

Book Fair – Jane Shannon, Joyce Nesbit

Organize and manage book fair (Barnes & Noble supplier), coordinate volunteers. (October)

Tshirts – Tiffany

Distribute order form at beginning of year and fulfill orders. (Sept)

Parent’s Night Out- Yaacov Sasson

Organize monthly supervised babysitting service at school. (monthly or quarterly)

Fundraising Research – chair position open / Anne Sanford

Research new fundraising programs: grocery store cards, Mad Science camp, restaurant night-outs.

Ice Cream Sales - ?

SOLICITATION – Ruth Chlebowski (chair)

Direct Solicitation (Ruth Chlebowski/Tracy Balsz – Nelia, Kim, Lani)

Largest fundraising activity for school, goals to increase participation from 20% to 50% this year.

The plan is to mail letters and forms the end of September inviting families to bring their donation to the Booster Club table set up before and after school for the first week of classes. Volunteers will approach parents directly to discuss the need for their contribution. A small gift and sticker will be given to each student who’s family participates with a pledge. Near the end of September a phone bank will be coordinated to call families not yet pledged. Korean interpreters needed.

Corporate Sponsor – chair position open

We need a chairperson to organize and manage a local community campaign. Current contributors include: Park La Brea, Trader Joes, Whole Foods.

Auditorium Drive – Kim Little

Major improvements to the auditorium have been made with just a few remaining. Chairs are available to purchase for $250 which includes a personalized name plaque installed on the chair.

COMMUNICATION – Tracy Balsz (chair)

Room Parent – Tracy Balsz

Teachers to appoint a room parent to represent their room. A meeting will be held inviting all the room parents to define their role. Room Parents obligations will be to assist in collecting contact information for classroom and Student Directory. Help solicite pledge contributions, classroom volunteers and field trip volunteers. Organize clean-up day and room parties. Communicate teacher wish list to parents. (SEPT)

Korean Ambassador - chair position open

We are in need of a Korean speaking interpreter to join the board and organize the Korean parents to be more involved in the school. This person will oversee the translation of materials, be present at Booster Club meetings to interpret, and consult on the most effective methods to communicate to this community and culture.

Teacher Communications – Tracy Balsz

Present to the teaching staff the goals of the Booster Club and encourage their involvement.

Mailings/Stuffing- chair position open

Volunteers needed to assist in the Pledge Drive by photocopying, labeling, stamping and stuffing 750 envelopes. Assistance in distribution of Booster Club information throughout the year.

Wall plaque - chair position open

Design and produce a Booster Club wall sign (outside the teacher’s lounge) that visually indicates the level of dollars raised and the goals we are trying to attain. (August)

Parent Directory – Anne Sanford

Gather contact information from the sheets provided to the Room Parents. Design and produce the printed directory.

Website Design/Maintenance - chair position open

Upgrade and maintain website. Work with Joseph Parks (parent website designer).

Community Affairs (PR) - chair position open

Volunteer needed to handle publicity for the school. Follow-up thank you letters to corporate and community sponsors. Design and produce a banner listing our Corporate sponsors.

Appreciation and Goodwill – Mayi Brady/Nelia Southwick

Coordinates: Kindergarten Meet & Greet (August 28), Kindergarten Round Up (spring), Holiday cookies for teachers/staff (Dec), thank you notes after events for all involved, tea party for parent volunteers (June), etc.

PROJECTS

Auditorium/Art Patio – Kim Little (chair)

Once additional funds are allocated, the Auditorium sound system will be installed. Kim needs assistance from volunteers to help paint the outside art studio area, install sink and tables, fence covering and an overhead shade structure.

School Beautification/Garden – Liz Nankin

Includes organizing classroom clean-up days, weekly trash pick-up by students, installation of new plants, coordinate with LAUSD on fixing irrigation, paint murals, build a garden that students maintain., etc.

Library – Barbery Byfield

Solicite and coordinate “Wonder of Reading” volunteers. Manage “Rooster Club” – morning childcare.

Play Structure for grades 1-5 – Kim Little/Tracy Balsz

Research has been made into what type of structure would be best for the yard. We have plans to submit a request for a matching grant through the Kirk and Anne Douglas Playground Grant Fund. LAUSD is currently reviewing the plans. We will need someone to forward this grant process and once approved work with the vendor to coordinate installation.

Emergency Supplies – Ashley Park (chair)

Coordinate donations and/or purchases of needed earthquake supplies.
