All Grade 9 Teachers

SUBJECT: GRADE 9 FINAL MODERATIONAND VERIFICATION OF SBA

[2 – 12 NOVEMBER2015]

Dear Colleagues

1)As required in terms of the moderation policy (refer to Circular 0128/2002 par. 4), we will be engaging the Grade 9 teachers in a final moderation and verification process.

2)It is compulsory for schools to send a representative for each SUBJECT (indicated in the attached Annexures).

3)SBA Moderation will be conducted from Monday,2 November 2015. Please refer to the Addendum for the various SUBJECTS, DATES and VENUES.

4)Moderation is scheduled to start promptly at 15h00 and conclude at approximately 17h30.

We appeal to teachers to be punctual and not inconvenience their colleagues.

5)Please note that ONLY ONETEACHER per SUBJECT per school is required to attend the moderation session.

6)Teachers must bring the following to the sessions:

  • The Teacher File of EACH TEACHER responsible for the Subject in Grade 9. The Teacher Files must contain the formal SBA Tasks, memoranda, rubrics, checklists, evidence of interventions and moderation, etc.
  • Evidence of the SBA of12 learners i.e. their portfolios/workbooks/filescontaining all the completed SBA tasks. The sample should be a representative of the work done by well, average and poor performing learners.
  • Official (updated) Summary Recording Sheets of the SBA marks of the required number of tasks for all subjects.

NOTE: Only the CEMIS mark sheets must be used and must have been signed by the subject teacher/HOD/Subject Head and stamped with the school stamp.

  • Green and black pens.

7)The safekeeping of teacher portfolios and learner evidence of work will be the responsibility of the school’s representative.

8)No portfolios may be delivered to the venue for moderation without a teacher being present in the session.

9)Should you not be able to attend on the day/date specified kindly contact the respective adviser timeously. No additional moderation sessions canbe arranged.

10)We extend a warm welcome to the External Moderators who will monitor the moderation sessions at MEED.
