The Professional Exchange of Risk Knowledge

Chapter Tip Sheet

How does the PERK Program work?

Choose a Meeting Topic. From the list of available topics, choose the topic that best suits your chapter.

Request a Program. Fill out the PERK Program Request Form, which can be found on the on the RIMS Web site at

RIMS Involvement. After you have selected your session(s) on the PERK Program Request Form, please send it to RIMS at or fax it to the RIMS Chapter Services Coordinator at 212-655-7425. RIMS will then work with our participating industry partners to find an instructor who is able to speak on the topic you have chosen for your chapter’s meeting. RIMS will put your chapter in touch with the presenter and you can work together to create a program that will work for your chapter.

Structure. Each session is meant to fit into a regular chapter meeting time. The presentations can consist of panels, speakers, or workshops. Your chapter can work with its PERK partner to find a format that works for your meeting.

If you would like to build an Industry Program Partner Chapter Session into your chapter's schedule of events, consider the following:

It's not too early to begin planning! Make a note to include educational programming on your next board agenda.

Share this information with all the right people. Many chapters use their board members to do informal market research, contact key decision-makers, and prioritize objectives.

Make sure your current education/program committee chair takes ownership of next year's education calendar. This makes for an easy transition.

Make sure to have your participants fill out an evaluation form for the program to get valuable feedback on the session. Participant Evaluation Forms can be downloaded from the RIMS Web site at Work with your Program Partner to modify the evaluation form to reflect the session you have chosen. After you have collected the evaluations, condense the results and fax a copy back to the RIMS Chapter Services Coordinator at 212-655-7425 or send via e-mail to . RIMS will use your feedback to enhance future programs.

Review Audio Visual needs for your Industry Partner’s presentation.
