RE: INFORMATION FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2011

As you may be aware, Self Managed Superannuation Funds (qualifying funds with less than 5 members) are now administered by the Australian Taxation Office. As a result of this change, there have been some simplifications including the combined lodgement of the fund’s tax and annual regulatory returns.

The supervisory levy or lodgment fee continues to be payable and must be paid with any tax liability due. As the annual return is now included in the fund income tax return, both it and the levy of $180 are due by <insert date>.

A review of our records indicates that we have not yet received information in relation to the 2011 year. Due to our present workload and to comply with the lodgement deadline, we require the following information for the period 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011.

  1. Bank Statements.
  2. Details of cheque payments or direct debits from the bank account.
  3. Details of deposits into the account, including any transfers or direct credits.
  4. Dividend slips (if applicable).
  5. Invoices for any assets acquired.
  6. Buy and/or Sell Contracts for the acquisition or disposal of investments where applicable.
  7. ETP statements for Rollover of funds to and/or from the fund (if applicable)
  8. Details of contributions. Where contributions consist of employer and member contributions, a break up of the amounts applicable to each member of the fund
  9. Copies of BAS statements or detailed summary of BAS payments (if applicable).

Lodgment Deadlines and Penalties

The lodgment deadline for the 2011 “Fund income tax and regulatory return” with the ATO for self managed superannuation funds is <insert date>.

As you may be aware the preparation and lodgment of this return is dependent on the completion and audit of the funds financial accounts.

Late lodgment of tax / regulatory returns will incur a late lodgment fee.

Acceptance of Engagement

To commence the engagement, please sign the enclosed copy of this letter and return it to our office by as applicable as possible.

Upon confirmation of this letter, could you please sign the attached authorisation form to enable us to fulfil the audit requirements for the fund for the 2011 year.

As you are aware the Fund is required to be audited annually which involves direct confirmation, to our Auditors, of the assets of the Fund and related income streams.
