4CR Meeting

AGENDA ITEM #1

Review Grant

  • 4CR – Possible name change, bylaws, mission, elections, etc.
  • Unity House
  • Contacts: Chris, Carla, Veronica, Pat
  • Purpose in consortium: to help establish the program and to be a voice for community partners; create a caucus of community partners
  • St. Rose has a consortium of NPOs/Community Partners that may be useful in helping to establish our program
  • Goals
  • 1) ORGANIZE, Coordinate and elevate ASL in Capital Region
  • 2) Train cadre of faculty on each campus in ASL pedagogy
  • Compensate faculty
  • Commitment to two part training
  • January – get faculty thinking about ASL and how they can use it
  • Summer – faculty bring syllabi, think tank mode, create new courses
  • Must have two courses across three semesters by Spring of 2010
  • 3) New or renewed (strengthened) partnerships are created between colleges, institutions and partners
  • Stipends
  • $9,000 to each school; $1,000 to each of the 8 faculty from school and $1,000 to faculty coordinator
  • $10,000 to Unity House; $5,000 from grant, $4,000 matched from colleges, $1,000 provided by UH for grant initiatives
  • How will 4CR be announced?
  • 2 paragraph PR blurb for media

  • Held at Russell Sage, Lorraine Walker Center behind Wool House, in Lounge (Room 102)

Dates for Summer Conference

  • K-16 conference, after public schools get out on June 25th
  • Start culture in Capital Region, annual conference
  • Workshops specific to college and public schools
  • Paid keynotes and ask around for local presenters/facilitators

  • 1800 hours over 4 years (starting as a freshman)
  • Encourage development of student service through scholarship
